As far as I know the only consequences for Charlieβs murder are going to be with the man who literally pulled the trigger, and even those consequences are going to be relatively minimal.
It's getting murkier whether to chalk up this feebleness on the right to the default "the side that wants to be left alone will always lose to the side that wants to win" versus owing to naked cowardice, or an inherent awareness that this is Thermopylae and no matter how many scalps we take on the way, we're vastly outnumbered and dead anyway.

Last year, several of you pointed me to Over the Garden Wall, Patrick McHale's 2014 Cartoon Network series. It's ten short episodes about two brothers lost in a dark wood on Halloween. It turns out to be one of the most complete explorations of the in-between I've seen in pop culture, closer to the first canto of Dante than you'd expect from a cartoon.
