Oberholtzer: We have created our own enemy through AI or what she called, "artificial information." The power situation is the real problem when it comes to data centers.
Vaz: We are fighting the social media war, where people are getting most of their information regarding data centers through Tik Tok and Instagram.
The reality of water usage for data centers nowadays is that most of it is being used for the required landscaping.
Vaz: The main issue with data centers is the standpoint of trying to manage them like a box. She shares a point that it can be compared to wanting your phone to work, but not wanting the wireless to be built by your house.
Oberholtzer: There's a lot at stake regarding data centers. The struggle that we are all facing is that data centers are not new to us, if there is a true negative impact then we need to know that.
Hayes: Prop 207 has been around for about 20 years now. It has now become a tool that has been used more frequently regarding data centers.
Galvin steers the conversation towards Prop 207 issues. Oberholtzer starts by sharing her insights on the proposition and how her and her partners address the waivers to their clients.
Hayes talks about the success of golf courses and how most are ready for redevelopment. He brings up the Cottonfields Golf course in Southwest Phoenix as a prime example of successful rezoning.
Oberholtzer: The goals have to align and there has to be a common will. The evolution of the city's understanding will lead to the passing of more codes.
Due to the recent weather, we have changed the date of the 39th Annual Community Project. Join us on Saturday, November 14th to support the Boys & Girls Club.
The all-star panel is made up of local zoning attorneys: Jason Morris, Partner, Withey Morris Baugh, Carolyn Oberholtzer, Partner, Bergin, Frakes, Smalley & Oberholtzer and Manjula Vaz, Partner, Gammage & Burnham.
Clark Princell is kicking things off with a big thank you to our sponsors, notably our event sponsor
@apsFYI. Today our moderator will be Maricopa County Supervisor, Thomas Galvin.
