Today in why the fuck are people like this! The Bracknell Football Club has posted a very long statement describing a man charged with rape as having a 'difficult chapter' The lengthy ramble - probably the work of AI - was in response to senior coach Josh Adams being charged with three rapes. The allegation relates to an attack on a sleeping woman. The victim had to leave the town after club president Nicole Jones demeaned her for bringing the information to the club's attention. Adams' cousin (no less) is the author of the post that appeared on the club's Facebook page. In it she writes: "We must remember that people are more than headlines, allegations or one difficult chapter". The entire post is a woe is me for Adams, the club, footballers, the school, the futures of local children and the community. Not one word is said for the victim. NOT FUCKING ONE! There's no acknowledgement of her distress, pain, trauma or wellbeing. it doesn't recognise that she has had to leave her home or that she was ostracised for speaking up. In terms of the references to children's safety, the victim and her mum told the club not long after the assaults. The club allowed the coach to remain in his role, which would have seen him in contact with children, teenagers and other women, for about 16 months. Indeed, he was only stood down recently and because police notified the club because the charges impacted his working with children certification. So here we are again. An entire football club stepping up for their man while the woman he is accused of raping is out here struggling to get through every day.

She was only four when Trump said he would end the war in 24 hours. Just turned six when Musk decided to join Trump on Putin’s side and help the Kremlin killers murder her
At the funeral of one of the Ukrainian kids murdered by Russians this week, while the U.S. hobbled the country's defenses. Elizaveta Sorochyshyna, age 6. Relatives and friends left stuffed toys near her coffin. Elizaveta was one of three children among the 23 people killed by russians that day.

Trump is closing strong: 1. Hire unqualified press secretary who doesn't last a week 2. Announce public execution, then walk it back 3. Conduct pre-dawn raid on opposition congresswoman over paperwork from 1995 while allowing your crooked Ambassador to Greece to resign without charges 4. Float possibility of using "Mother Of All Bombs" in your unpopular war (that you've previously declared already "won" on many occasions) 5. Cut a too-little/too late/possibly-illegal deal to import Russian diesel to offset negative effects of said war 6. Get caught secretly raising $333 million from corporations and billionaires for your White House ballroom, including companies doing major business with your administration 7. Mock a woman wearing a “Release the Epstein Files” shirt while she gets punched at your rally 8. Preemptively blame your outgoing senator for a Texas Senate seat you haven’t lost yet 9. Use a San Antonio rally, with diesel at $6.28 a gallon, to renew your demand that Roger Clemens be inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame

Ben Cousins will be front and centre at a live broadcast this weekend to raise money for vulnerable, disadvantaged and sick children. The convicted stalker who threatened his partner and breached a domestic violence order is part of the line-up for the Seven Network's Telethon Trust broadcast in Western Australia. Cousins also took part in last year's event. The state's Premier Roger Cook will also take part as will a raft of big name celebrities. It's almost as though no one thought to say 'hey, if you are platforming a man who stalked and threatened his partner, perhaps I shouldn't take part' Once again, the media and people with power are telling us hurting women won't stop famous men from being glorified. ❤️SUPPORT MY WORK❤️ You can support The RED HEART Movement and Australian Femicide Watch by grabbing a RED HEART t-shirt or making a donation! 100% of money raised funds support for bereaved families and an apartment for women leaving domestic violence. From: Jeff Helfgott BREAKING🚨 A Michigan nurse lost her job and now faces up to a year in federal prison because a patient with a bloodied face walked out of the hospital before ICE could take him. Chloe Freeman, a registered nurse at Trinity Health Ann Arbor Hospital, is charged with "instigating or assisting escape," which carries up to a year in prison. She has pleaded not guilty. She goes back to federal court in Detroit on October 20. On May 28, Border Patrol agents went after a Mexican man in Ann Arbor. The agents say he ran, tripped over a curb and hit his face on the pavement. He was bleeding from the head when they brought him to the hospital, where staff saw in his paperwork that he was in ICE custody. After his CT scan, the FBI says Freeman took out his IV and walked him to the ambulance bay. Security footage shows him going out the doors with his face bandaged and bloody. Nobody has found him since. When the hospital questioned her in June, Freeman said she disagreed with ICE "separating people from their families." She said that with injuries like his, he "could have died." She also said no agents were in the room during the scan, so she didn't believe he was in custody at that point. Even the prosecutors' own announcement says agents stayed with him only until he was moved to imaging. Trinity Health fired her. She has since moved away. Shahad Atiya, an immigration attorney and law professor, said she has never seen this charge used in immigration cases, as Ruta Ulcinaite first reported in WXYZ Detroit (ABC 7). She expects it to become "a new set of charges" aimed at anyone who helps immigrants. Prosecutors charged a misdemeanor, not a felony. That means no grand jury ever had to approve the case. Grand juries in Los Angeles and Chicago have refused to indict anti-ICE protesters on felony charges. A petition calling for the charge to be dropped warns it tells healthcare workers that "showing compassion for a patient could cost them their freedom and their career." Nurses and hospital workers are being asked to show up at the Detroit courthouse on October 20 in their scrubs and lab coats. If you appreciate my posts, it would mean the world if you followed my page. Thank you for being here.

Apparently Russian servers have been hit by a Ukrainian strike and immediately massive online hard right chatter has collapsed. This particular chatter was in support of Germany’s AFD, their equivalent to Reform, but similar patterns are being seen in hard right movements everywhere, including the UK. If anyone needed anymore evidence that Russia are driving a massive wave of hard right propaganda in Europe, this is it. So, all you “patriots” - you’ve been duped by Russia, and you are about as far from patriotic as anyone can be. You are easily brainwashed though. This is how propaganda works.

Russians have been doing this for years. And including in 2016. We have ignored a gigantic elephant in the room for too long. Tories because they did not want full Johnson charlatanism exposed. Farage lot because they have been in bed with Russia for yonks. Labour because of the fantasy of “making Brexit work.” Burnham has done a huge service in letting the truth in to disinfect

Sanity in Murdoch publications is rare so should be shared 👇🏽 Opinion: Preposterous political ploy selfish Australians are falling for I was standing in a shop queue recently when a middle-aged bloke – clearly angry at life and wanting the world to know it – picked up a collection tin for women’s cancer research. “Why is it always about women?” he groaned. “Why don’t they have anything for men?” And that tells you everything you need to know about Australia’s mad rush to the loony right of politics. First, it shows a wilful ignorance of reality. Cancer research affecting males (exclusively or primarily) actually receives more funding than that affecting females. Second, it suggests a lack of both logic and empathy. Too many people cannot see – sometimes literally – beyond their own noses. Even a child knows proof of non-existence is not found in an object’s absence. Indeed, a lack of empathy is often a function of a poor education. Either way, too many Australians lack the basic empathy to see another point of view. Are striking workers greedy, or might they have a legitimate complaint about pay and conditions? The Swiss theorist Jean Piaget – pounded into every teaching student – found that well-rounded humans should be empathetic by age five. But I guess Piaget didn’t spend a lot of time in Australia, where debate rails between kicking out foreign students (despite their $55bn annual boost to the local economy) and dumping protections for LGBTQIA+ people whose rights in no way subtract from yours. Think about it. Does a beer manufacturer supporting trans people’s rights make your day harder? And would your daily life really be worse if a First Nations Voice to Parliament offered advice, on Indigenous matters only, that politicians could so easily reject? What is it about our inability to see ourselves in the shoes of another person – someone even more vulnerable than us who, in all likelihood, is also the battling the cost of living? As hard as life is for you, there are countless for whom it’s much harder. Every day there are Australians – law-abiding taxpayers who love their kids and their pets and who keep their head down – who are forced to battle racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia and cruel stereotypes around disability, autism and mental illness. And it’s through this preposterous hatred of others that populist politicians hoodwink angry Australians – just for votes and the election-funding dollars that come with them. And we’re falling for it. So you’re not alone if you’ve noticed people just don’t care any more. Studies have found human empathy across Western civilisation has almost halved in recent decades, fuelled initially by the individualistic, dog-eat-dog free market of the 1980s, and accelerated by social media networks that position us literally at the centre of our own digital world. Who cares about the international student – paying dearly to study at an Australian university in order to build a better life back home – as long as we can post pictures of our holiday. Be honest, when was the last time you dropped cash into a charity tin or tips jar? I’ve been thinking about blinkered views since the recent student protests against One Nation. Public comment was appalling in its opposition not just to what young people were saying, but in students’ right to say it. We have the right to respectfully express counter-opinions indicating where protesters are wrong on logic, but we can’t demand others be stripped of a right to lawful protest. I guarantee public opinion would be very different if young One Nation members marched in support of Australia Day or the flag. While there are legitimate questions around school students being off-campus during school hours, Article 15 of the UN’s Convention on the Rights of the Child protect the right of under-18s to protest lawfully. And shouting slogans is lawful when not inciting violence. To deny this is to deny a long history of young people changing the world for the better. I’m old enough to remember grey-haired politicians warning that university students were dangerous communists for opposing a Vietnam War they said was vital to Australia’s security. Look how that turned out. Young people have led anti-apartheid demonstrations in South Africa despite the risk of injury and death and, more recently, have been at the forefront of climate change and same-sex-marriage movements. In short, young people – so easily painted as know-nothing bludgers with no life experience – have always been on the right side of history. So take off your blinkers and pop on your empathy specs, and see what side of history you want to be on. - Paul Williams is an associate professor at Griffith University
