Nashville's replica of the Greek Parthenon was built to celebrate Tennessee's Centennial in 1897. Originally a temporary structure, contractors rebuilt it permanently in the 1920s. Here are some notes and sketches for the project from 1923! #VU150 #VandyGram #VandyLibraries

Did you know Vanderbilt initially allowed only faculty and grad students to use the stacks of the university library? In 1961 undergrads got access as well. Eight years later, Vanderbilt added the General Library Building's H. Fort Flowers Wing. #VU150 #VandyGram #VandyLibraries

For decades, Vanderbilt community members have sported buttons and pins to proudly express themselves. Here are a few of our favorites from Special Collections and University Archives. #VU150 #VandyGram

Happy first day of winter! Try not to get snowed in during the weeks ahead, but if you do, remember that it’s always helpful to have another pair of hands. Here are Ralph Whaley (left) and Wilmoth Marshall trying to move a car in the snow in 1961. #VU150 #VandyGram

The Vanderbilt Hustler was established in 1888, but it wasn't until 1890 that the university granted permission for it to operate. Initially managed by the student athletic association in 1891, The Hustler is now part of Vanderbilt Student Communications. #VU150 #VandyGram

Neely Auditorium wasn't always a theater. When opened in 1925, it served as a lecture hall and chapel. Productions like the one pictured here from the 1930s weren't held at Neely until it became a dedicated theater in 1976. #VU150 #VandyGram

In 1955, the Commodores played in their first-ever bowl game, defeating Auburn 25–13 in the Gator Bowl. This football is one of several objects held by University Archives that commemorates the historic victory. #AnchorDown #VandyGram

Happy Halloween! Many Commodores dress to impress for the holiday, while others throw on whatever is around. Whether it's store-bought or DIY, a costume is sure to increase the fun. Here's a student from the late 1970s dressed as a jack-o'-lantern. #VU150 #VandyGram

Happy Fall Break to our undergrads! If you’re staying on campus, be sure to enjoy the fall foliage around you. With more than 6,000 trees and shrubs, Vanderbilt’s arboretum is a prime place to take in the changing colors, as this photo from 1959 can attest. #VU150 #VandyGram

It's time for Family Weekend! Over the years, Vanderbilt has shown its appreciation for families in a variety of ways, including bringing the community together for some freshly cut watermelon. Here's a photo of Peabody College’s Watermelon Cutting Day in the 1960s. #VU150
