"The common good" is to postliberalism as "social justice" is to Marxism. Both are vacuous, misappropriated terms to justify authoritarian economic policies that they can't make a coherent argument for on the merits.

Johnson: Putin keeps attacking because the West keeps Ukraine’s future ambiguous. As long as he thinks he can keep Ukraine outside the West, the war goes on. One way to end it: Washington, London and Paris should say clearly that Ukraine should join NATO. 3/

Here @Wiswesser explains the activities of Russian intelligence services. It's an important 3 minutes. He quotes one Russian operative, when asked why Russia doesn't engage with diplomacy with Ukraine, "Diplomacy doesn't matter. We're trying to destroy the system the United States set up... They want to destroy the way the world functions, liberal based democracies and law functioning societies. They want to destroy it." "I believe it's all meant to coerce the West, to intimidate European partners not to help Ukraine in particular." "The most important thing is to understand how they think... Their culture is a thugocracy. These intelligence services are like giant mafia bands... They have no equivalents. A lot of people say the FSB in Russia is like the FBI in the United States. Nothing further from the truth." "It's a bully culture, and that goes back to the Chekist traditions of the KGB."

Literally:
We should offer Russia to be fully brought into the West. Make them a part of the Visa Waiver Program in America and NATO membership. Open up trade with them. If we stop treating them like an enemy, they may actually become our friend.

Someone mentioned old dial-up modems, and I realized I had not thought of the word “baud” in years. Baud came out of almost nowhere, and has nearly disappeared again. But also, TIL it used to be an alternate spelling for “bawd”, as in bawdy.

If you can't accurately simulate nuclear designs from first principles for video game fun, you don't have free speech in America
2 months later the creator of Nuclear Design Bureau is still waiting for the US government to confirm that his video game that uses Minecraft level physics simulations is not a threat to national security.

This is convicted pedophile Scott Ritter having a great time with Trump's Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. And here is the convicted pedophile with Russian officers celebrating the first anniversary of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine. RFK Jr is following the Russian disinformation script of trying to destroy trust in health science. Most Americans are unaware of this RFK Jr, pedophile, Russia link. Most Americans do not understand that his attacks on health science fit perfectly in Russia's hybrid war strategy. So please repost.

The MAGA hatred of Robert Mueller is them telling on themselves. You guys say the Mueller report cleared Trump of wrongdoing. Ok, if that's true shouldn't you like him and be sad that he's dead since he gave your boy a big win???

This graph explains why so many people have a certainty in their gut that AI can never be sentient or conscious.
I find it fascinating how huge majorities of almost every group agrees that: People have a soul or spirit in addition to their physical bodies. Even 69% of agnostics agree with that. The huge outlier are atheists. Just one-third think that they have a soul.

A: [says bad and untrue thing about C] B: “Actually that’s not true.” A: “Why are you supporting C?” This fallacy is so common, and so fundamental to online discourse, that I feel it should have a name. How about “straw fan fallacy”?

Holy shit. Wow. This is HANDS DOWN the best take I’ve heard. If there is one video you listen to today it’s this one. Every single word of this and it’s a huge “f*ck you” to @antonioguterres for propping up the barbaric terrorist Islamic Regime in Iran. Must be shared everywhere in my opinion. Unfortunately I have no idea who this young British woman is to credit her, if you know who it is feel free to tag below.

Naming JD Vance as the leader of the war on fraud will have the same effect on Vance as Biden’s naming of Kamala Harris as the leader of the effort to secure the border had on her. The VP will be associated with failure on a hot-button issue.
Trump: "I am officially announcing the war on fraud to be led by our great vice president, JD Vance"

I was talking today with someone from a country that is highly repressive and does not enjoy the laws and safeguard we have in this country, and who was terribly excited about becoming a US citizen. What did this person cite as the main cause of excitement? The protection of our laws. I was told how fearful people are when they know they are being watched and can lose their jobs or even their lives for speaking their minds. These young radicals at Notre Dame remind me of leftist students in the 1960s who also hated their country. They too argued our laws were fake and that the system is “rigged.” It was worse than taking their own freedoms for granted. It was actually trying to deprive other Americans of their freedoms. What these radicals have in common, whether left or right, is a disdain for America, not only as it is but has it always has been. Sure, they have different ideologies and fixations. But regardless of their differences, they both hold the actual country and millions of Americans in utter contempt. Oddly back im the 1960s, as today, they couldn’t tell the difference between the USA and a truly repressive state like the Soviet Union (today Russia) or communist China or North Korea. A theoretical bit of nonsense if there ever was one. And one that would disappear the moment they were forced to live in such a country.
"The rule of law has been dead for decades." I hear this from right wing students often and it's historically illiterate nonsense and a complete absence of appreciation for the blessings we enjoy. Deeply dangerous too.

Wokeness is all about changing the definitions of words to try and establish a new paradigm. And they do it aggressively and are extremely manipulative. They'll shout you down if you are politically incorrect in rejecting their preferred narrative. Truth, to them, is a byproduct of power and they will wield power as aggressively as they can to establish their new truth, and if you disagree you are a traitor. The perfect example is the woke right's insistence that a tariff is not a tax.
