Looking for an extended leave/sabbatical in a French medieval village? As many of you know, we have a beautiful 600 year old manor house in the small hamlet of Noyers-sur-Serein in Burgundy, France - around 2 hours from Paris by car or train and 1 hour from Dijon. This village of 500 people is one of France's finest, and it is full of artists and artisans, every house in the walled town is medieval, the pace of life is exactly what you would seek to get away to a calm, quiet place to reboot and recharge - a perfect place for a sabbatical leave, an artist residency, somewhere to unwind and feel creative again. We have fixed everything up to rent it out to anyone looking for this type of getaway. It's an amazing place both in summer, by the pool, or in winter in front of the three open fire places! Keep this magical place in mind for your next extended vacation/sabbatical leave and contact me for information. One month or ore preferrred, but shorter stays are also possible. Photos can be found on the IG link below. instagram.com/sabbaticalhous…

Here is Myrielle Dupont-Rouzeyrol from Institut Pasteur de Nouvelle-Calédonie one of our collaborators in the Pasteur Network. Myrielle received a CDA short term expert visitor award from the Communicable Diseases Agency (CDA) to come to Singapore and exchange her expertise in medical entomology, virology and mosquito control with numerous institutions here. She has presented her work and had scientific meetings with A*STAR Infectious Diseases Labs (where she holds an adjunct position), NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, NTU LKCMedicine, Duke-NUS Medical School, National Centre for Infectious Diseases (NCID), National Environment Agency (NEA-EHI). A busy program where we tried to have her meet as many potential future collaborators as we try to increase the scientific and educational exchanges between New Caledonia and Singapore, now that there is a direct flight linking the two. Reach out if you'd like to squeeze in a last chance meeting and thank you Communicable Diseases Agency for this excellent funding scheme that allowed us to bring her over!

pardon me as I descend for just one day into celebrating the way Brazilians do - with happy spirited vulgarity!

Today’s shoulders day workout lasted the whole day! I usually deflate faster than that! Bed time! Gym time at 5:30 again. Xo

Today was so nice to spend with Frank van Kuppeveld. He is in Singapore for a few days presenting his work at our Institute and at NUS. Alarms will start working again together on various topics around the picornavirus research.

Finally a move in the right direction. The extreme waste of time that is modern grant writing and reviewing, and the massive excess of administrative money lost in shuffling paperwork and reports back and forth…I see it first hand. Science funding has become a career for too many and just an outdated and strained business model. At least these few researchers can now do actual science for a nice stretch of time. 👏
China has selected its first group of young researchers to receive funding for up to 15 years, in one of the longest research grants on offer to scientists globally go.nature.com/4z4Q3pw

Full body workout today goes boom! It’s true what they say. No fast transformations are real. I’ve been working out 5 times a week for 30 years now. And more seriously now for the last 10, prioritizing it and with focused diet and sleep. Each year seems I get more into it than the previous one. Still really enjoying it. Join in, if you can. It’s worth it!

No surprise here! This company is notorious for trying to greenwash all their operations and pay to appear more ecological. At least 30 years of greenwashing!
