As our most in-depth exploration of Egypt to date, this itinerary takes you beyond just the iconic to discover even more of the Nile. Today, we celebrated the naming of our 7 newest river ships during a simultaneous ceremony in Amsterdam that virtually connected locations across Europe and Egypt. Joining our award-winning fleet, the Viking Haki, the Viking Halogi, the Viking Sjofn and the Viking Rota will sail our popular itineraries along Europe's waterways. The Viking Ptah sails on the Nile River, where the Viking Sekhmet will also begin operating in 2027. The Viking Fjolvar explores the Seine River.
The ceremony also honored 7 distinguished travel advisors and industry leaders who served as godparents, recognizing their longstanding relationships with Viking and their contributions to our success.

The launch ceremony of Viking Astrea, the new cruise ship under construction for the cruise line Viking, took place today at our Ancona shipyard. The ceremony was attended by the Director of the Shipyard, Gilberto Tobaldi, and Ghislain Lemarie, Vice President Ship Development and Construction of Viking.
With a gross tonnage of approximately 54,300 tons, a length of 239 meters, and accommodation for up to 998 passengers in 499 cabins, Viking Astrea will feature a propulsion system partially powered by liquid hydrogen and fuel cells. The project has been developed with particular attention to environmental sustainability and will enable the ship to operate with zero emissions, allowing access to environmentally sensitive marine areas.
The launch of Viking Astrea confirms the role of the Ancona shipyard – where since 2009, more than 20 vessels have been delivered – and underscores the value of the collaboration between Fincantieri and Viking, began in 2012, marking another milestone in this journey that combines our shipbuilding expertise with Viking’s commitment to developing innovative solutions to bring a more sustainable future on board.

The Viking Astrea, our second hydrogen-powered cruise ship capable of operating with zero emissions, touched water for the first time this week for her "float out." The ceremony took place at @Fincantieri's Ancona Shipyard.
This addition to our fleet of small, award-winning ocean ships is scheduled for delivery in May 2027 and will spend her inaugural season sailing itineraries in the Mediterranean and Northern Europe: explore.viking.com/4xJFoQe

Great news!
We are proud to announce the signing of contracts with Viking for the construction of two new cruise ships, following the exercise of the options granted and announced in April 2025.
Based on the successful features of the vessels previously built for the shipowner at our Italian shipyards, the new units - which will be positioned in the small cruise ship segment, with a gross tonnage of approximately 54,300 tons and accommodation for 998 passengers in 499 cabins - will be built at our Ancona shipyard and are scheduled for delivery in 2032.
This latest order marks another milestone in our long-standing partnership with Viking and serves as a powerful testament to the excellence and industrial expertise of our Ancona shipyard, further reinforcing a strong collaborations, which now encompasses a total of 28 ships.

On August 5, 1997, Viking began with a simple idea—that travel could be more destination-focused and more culturally immersive. As Executive Chairman Torstein Hagen often recalls, the company started with just 2 guys, 2 mobile phones and 4 river ships.
Since then, Viking has grown into a publicly traded company with a fleet of more than 100 ships exploring all 7 continents.
On behalf of the entire Viking family, thank you for sailing with us. We hope to welcome you back on board soon: explore.viking.com/3TtSj9V
