Amazing 2hr session with @daemonhugger who helped me map my inner economy of money, and unpick the cultural, familial, emotional, cognitive, symbolic and interpersonal knots that had got wrapped around it. Money, like sex, is one of those gnarly life-areas that gets people stuck in ways that are complex and over-determined, but we have almost more shame talking about it than we do sex. This was one of the most skilfully conducted therapeutic conversations I have had.

Thank you @VincentDeary & @talatyaqoob for a very worthwhile hour @edbookfest discussing #resilence & #allostatic load, rest, hope & more. I simply had to go straight to the festival #bookshop & signing tent & am confident I will be further enlightened as I get into reading

See our Guardian article about the The Equality Trust's publication of the updated data 15 years after The Spirit Level came out. The evidence of the damage inequality does is as clear as ever.

Always the same stories. A grad student notices something weird, is advised to keep quiet, persists, finds egregious evidence of fraud...
And then nothing happens. Journals publish milquetoast corrections, universities slap the wrist of the fraudster, and we all rejoice...
Aristotle was the first to notice honeybees dancing. In 1927 Karl von Frisch decoded the waggle. How it works was "explained" by MV Srinivasan AM FRS in the 1990s. Except @NeuroLuebbert found his papers are junk. A 🧵 about her discovery & our report: arxiv.org/abs/2405.12998 1/

Fantastic new paper on the evolutionary genetics of human traits by Brendan Zietsch, expertly summarized by Ruben. While I have argued for balancing selection for personality in the past, the genomic evidence has changed my mind. So by far and large I agree wirh Brendan here.
