Sam Altman argues society must live with serious cyber damage from open models as the price of keeping that freedom: "I support open source models. There is a coming tidal wave of cybersecurity problems that are going to come from these open source models" "There are people in the industry who say we should ban open source, because otherwise a bunch of systems are going to be hacked" "We're going to, as a society, I think, have to just accept some fairly severe cyber incidents from open models, in exchange for the liberty that comes with that" Interested in AI? Whoa, I'm a huge fan of Jev and I'm excited to see movement in the decision model space! I've been following Parallel and they just added live data and web search to take things to the next level. Try it out and let me know what you think! #ParallelPartner
Introducing the Parallel Decisions API: the first web-grounded decisions engine. Decision models like Jev can answer in an instant, but they lack the recency of current news. Now you can get both in a single call. Decisions API is live today at $0.001 per request. Try it with 5,000 free requests: platform.parallel.ai/play/de… Here are some examples we've been experimenting with: - Fact-check content (@Grok is this true?) - Refresh stale banking records - Classify companies and leads with fresh signals - Backtest trading strategies - Track competitor e-commerce inventory

The real power of AI isn't just generating answers. It's getting things done with fresh, reliable information. Parallel's Decisions API brings web-grounded intelligence to real-time decisions, from fact-checking to tracking competitors. 5,000 free requests is a pretty good way to test it out 👀 #ParallelPartner

Meta's chief AI officer Alexandr Wang says agent swarms are already outpacing whole engineering teams inside the company: "Internally at Meta, we have seen cases where, if you develop the right agentic loop and have the right evaluation system and metric for the agents to optimize, a swarm of agents can accomplish more than a team of 100 engineers. They can do it very handily, actually, very easily." Wang said it in conversation with Y Combinator's Garry Tan at Startup School 2026. Interested in AI? Send this prompt to ChatGPT's new Terra. It opens your Gmail, reads the receipts, and adds up what you pay each month. It's in the $20 Plus plan you probably already have. The other 9 (bill checker, form filler, price comparer, inbox cleaner…) are in the Article ↓
OpenAI just launched GPT-6.1 Terra. It can see your screen and click, type and fill forms for you. It's in the $20 Plus plan, inside ChatGPT Work. I wrote the full setup + 10 copy-paste prompts for bills, forms, prices and your inbox. Save this.

Binghamton University found that screenshotting something makes you more likely to forget it. That screenshot you took so you wouldn’t forget? It’s somewhere in your gallery. You probably already forgot it exists. Researchers call it the digital capture effect. They ran 7 experiments. People looked at pieces of art. Some just viewed them. Some took screenshots. Then everyone was tested. In every one of the 7 experiments, memory was worse for the screenshotted images. The researchers looked for a payoff. If your phone holds the memory, your brain should be free for something else. They didn’t find a consistent one. No better memory for what came next. No better performance on a mental task afterward. And people were worse at remembering which images they had screenshotted at all. They lost track of what they’d saved. It gets stranger. Earlier studies found the same memory loss when people deleted their photos right away. No saved copy. Memory still suffered. So it’s not just that your brain trusts the phone. Researchers think it’s what pressing the button does to your attention. Then in August 2026, a study in American Psychologist went further. When one person takes photos, the companion standing next to them remembers less too. About as much as if they’d taken the photos themselves. They never touched the camera. But there’s a way out. In a 2014 museum study, people who photographed whole objects remembered fewer details. When they zoomed in on one specific detail, the memory loss disappeared. Same camera. Different attention. And photos can help memory when you go back and look at them. Saving something and remembering something are not the same thing. Your phone keeps the picture. You have to keep the memory.

Basically "WebJev" in production. LLMs and fast decision models are great until you ask them something that changed yesterday. The Decisions API grounds high-throughput classification in live web data in a single call. At $1 per 1,000 calls with citations included, this simplifies a ton of custom RAG pipelines. Worth testing. #ParallelPartner

Palantir CEO Alex Karp says big companies would rather "own the means of production" rather than hand their alpha to OpenAI or Anthropic: "Why are [LLMs] charging for tokens if it's so valuable?" "If it was so valuable—let's say I can make you a billion dollars tomorrow. Wouldn't I say, 'I'll make you a billion dollars, and I want 30%?'" "Look at our financials. The reason why everyone is chillaxing with bad financials and growth while losing money, is the client refuses to pay the true cost." "The two places that actually make money—profit, free cash flow—are our application layer called ontology, and compute." "We can get the frontier application to be exactly the same as a frontier model without the risk of transferring the alpha of your business to another." Karp, speaking on CNBC. Interested in AI?
