Those “unnecessary” rules require oil and gas companies to find and fix methane leaks. What he’s actually doing is saving those companies money by letting them put more pollution into the air their neighbors breathe. And they cheer.

Thanks Congress 😡 Starting October 19, airlines are no longer required to offer compensation – lodging, meals, or other assistance when delays or cancellations occur, even if it’s their fault – under 14 CFR 234.4,

Texas women are forced to deliver dead babies. Texas women are forced to carry non-viable fetuses. Texas women are now unable to conceive due to sepsis. One woman was forced to carry a baby, missing much of its skull, for months just to bury it. Some women had fatal fetal anomalies and yet were still denied abortions. Some had their water break too soon and were turned away from hospitals. Women are dying because hospitals continue to deny them simple procedures that would save their lives. Texas has enacted some of the nation's most restrictive abortion laws. Women are suffering, Ken Paxton doesn't care and Greg Abbott doesn’t care. We should all be tired of Republicans using women’s bodies as political playgrounds? Vote for @jamestalarico @GinaHinojosaTX #DemsUnited #TierraWalker

Ken Paxton and the State of Texas Murdered Tierra Walker Tierra Walker asked to live. That is the sentence that should have been enough. She was 37, a mother, a wife, a daughter who took care of her own mother, a woman who worked three kinds of jobs and still made a life. The pregnancy was wanted. She said so. She also said, as the seizures came and the clots formed and her blood pressure tried to kill her, that she did not think she would survive it. She had already lost twins to preeclampsia. She knew the shape of this disease. She asked doctors to end the pregnancy so she could stay on earth for the son who still needed her. They told her the baby was fine. The baby was 20 weeks old and could not live outside her body. She could. Preeclampsia does not care about anyone's politics. Its treatment is not a debate club. The treatment is delivery. At that gestation, delivery is an abortion. In a functioning hospital in a functioning country, that is called emergency medicine. In Texas it had been recoded as a risk to the doctor's license, liberty, and future. So they wrote notes. They said she was at high risk of deterioration and death. They treated the number on the cuff and sent the woman home. On December 30, 2024, her son found her lifeless on his birthday. Do not look away from that. Do not sand it into "a complicated case." A child should not become an orphan because grown professionals were more afraid of Ken Paxton than of a mother dying in her own bed. Paxton did not have to hold the discharge papers. He helped build the machine that made discharge the coward's safest option: a near-total ban, a paper-thin exception, penalties savage enough to teach every obstetrician in the state that hesitation is cheaper than courage. The GOP took the power Dobbs handed them and used it to drag emergency care backward — not to the era before ultrasound, but to the era when a pregnant woman's life was negotiable. Tierra Walker was not collateral. She was the point at which a slogan met a body. She was smart and tired and specific. She named the thing that would kill her and asked for the only treatment that stops it. They had magnesium. They had antihypertensives. They had an operating room. What they did not have was the will to treat her as the patient and human being. Her family has now done the last thing a family should have to do. They filed suit to prove what any honest clinician already knows: a woman who can still be saved is not a vessel you get to gamble with. Tierra Walker told them exactly what was coming. She was right — and if not for Ken Paxton and the State of Texas, she would still be alive.

Cruelty Is the Point They did not pick up a stranger at the border. They took a soldier's wife in a Walmart parking lot while her six-year-old sat in the car. Cristy Maryori Villafranca-Trejo had no criminal record. She was married to an active-duty Army sergeant at Fort Bliss. She was listed as his dependent. She was the parent who kept the house running while he trained and served. They held her for weeks. On Monday they flew her to Honduras. Her husband now does school drop-off instead of morning training. He has already delayed a move. He does not know if he can stay in the Army. The child asks when her mother is coming home. He has no answer. This is at least the seventh spouse or parent of an active-duty service member deported in the crackdown. More than fifty military families have been dragged into detention after the administration killed the old practice of leaving the households of people in uniform alone. The Trump regime had a choice. Leave the sergeant's wife with his child, or exert ultimate cruelty and make an example. They made the example. Not because she was a threat, but because for Trump, the theater of taking her mattered more than the man still in uniform, the kid in first grade, or the unit that now has a distracted NCO instead of a ready one. That is not enforcement. That is the message: even the families of people who serve are fair game.
