At St Alban's Catholic Church in Warrington, someone knocked the head off the statue of Jesus on the cross that stands over the church's memorial to the dead of both world wars. They daubed paint across his body and scrawled anti-Catholic abuse on the plaque.
Canon Christopher Cunningham called it "evil" and "true persecution." Police are treating it as a hate crime, and a 42-year-old man has been detained under the Mental Health Act.
What an absolute disgrace. A memorial to the men who died for this country, and Christ himself, desecrated days before Remembrance.
This shows what's going on in this country right now. Christianity is under attack like never before.

Die Bücher vermitteln die Geschichte ihrer Regionen auf eine Art, die mit der Wirklichkeit nichts zu tun hat.
Im August hat das russische Bildungsministerium die Schulbücher für Kinder zwischen zehn und 13 Jahren genehmigt.
Die Bücher stellen die Ukrainer nirgends als eigenständiges Volk oder Nation dar. Stattdessen behaupten sie, in der polnisch-litauischen Union seien die von "orthodoxen Ruthenen bewohnten Gebiete" verächtlich als Ukraine bezeichnet worden. Das habe so viel wie "Randgebiet" bedeutet, die Bewohner seien als eine Art "sprechendes Vieh" wahrgenommen worden.
