SfBF part 3
The Saga hotel in Reykjavik. Spassky and his entourage stayed here, in the Presidential suite during the 1972 WC match.

SfBF part 2.
As well as being the International airport, Keflavik is also home to a US military base. In 1972 this was the site of the only bowling alley in Iceland. During the match Bobby Fischer would often visit the base for “games” of bowling and steak dinners.

Searching for Bobby Fischer (SfBF) a personal journey - part 1.
Keflavik airport in Iceland, where Boris Spassky and his entourage arrived on 21 June 1972 and Bobby Fischer eventually arrived at 7am on 4 July 1972, ahead of their World Championship match.

Apparently before game 14 of his WC match against Bobby Fischer, Boris Spassky moved out of the Saga hotel and into a house in the countryside, about 10km outside Reykjavik, which was owned by the hotel. Does anyone know where this house was?

@dgriffinchess as the font of all knowledge on chess history, do you perhaps know anything about this? Thank you. 🙏
I think every #chesspunk can relate to this! 😭
I heard about a chess player, possibly Polish, who played against someone who blundered and therefore they won and qualified 2 represent their country in the 1939 Olympiad. The other person sadly died in the Holocaust and the winner had survivor’s guilt. Does any know this story?
There are lots of great content creators out there, but for me, Andras is head and shoulders above the rest. Whenever I watch one of his videos I almost feel like I’ve actually had a coaching session, he explains every so well and I always learn so much!

Had a wonderful evening listening to @theAliceRoberts giving a lecture about her new book Crypt. I even got to briefly meet her and talk to her about The Fields of the Nephilim! A pretty perfect night! ❤️
I’ve just started a notebook, to review and analyse my games. In the front I’ve put @Bennyficial1’s Micro and Macro guidelines from p30-32 of Perpetual Chess Improvement, to remind me what I should be doing! 💪

Nothing says “I love you” like 549 pages of Jeremy Silman! Happy Valentine’s Day #chesspunks
#chesspunks when I’m playing a game, or solving puzzles, very often I find a tactic that I think works, but I miss a move that refutes it. Is there a book/course that gives you a tactic, but then you have to figure out why it doesn’t work? – at East, England
If this book doesn’t exist perhaps @saychess1 should write it, or perhaps @chesscoachandra should create the course! – at East, England
A belated picture of some of the Chess themed Christmas presents that I got. @NewInChess did very well from my family this year! I also got a @chesscom subscription, which is already proving really helpful to my chess improvement!
