This edition highlights significant progress in strengthening health systems, advancing health security, and fostering strategic partnerships to support universal health coverage using primary health care platform.
During the quarter, WHO continued to work closely with the Government of Lesotho and partners to address key health priorities. Notable achievements included strengthening digitalization of health service delivery, finalization of the National Health Policy 2025-2035, supporting sustainable immunization investments, resource mobilization, convening of partners to enhance coordination and alignment, and reinforcing health security.
WHO also supported multisectoral action to improve hygiene, sanitation, and infectious disease prevention during initiation ceremonies, and contributed to advancing Lesotho's vision of establishing a medical school.

Every day, countless people live with mental health challenges. Some struggle in silence, burdened by stigma and discrimination. Others find strength in sharing their experiences, turning adversity into hope and inspiring change.
As Lesotho joins the world in commemorating World Mental Health Day 2026 under the theme, โLived Experiences Heard: Real Voices, Real Change,โ we recognize the courage and resilience of those who have navigated mental health challenges.
Their voices are essential in shaping a more inclusive, compassionate, and responsive mental health system.
In this documentary, we hear directly from people with lived experience, their families, health workers, and advocates.
Their stories challenge stigma, foster understanding, and remind us of the importance of creating a society where seeking help is encouraged, support is accessible, and every voice is heard and valued.

Today, the Ministry of Health, with support from WHO, commemorated World Mental Health Day and World Patient Safety Day, bringing together stakeholders to champion dignity, inclusion, and safer health care for all.
Minister of Health, Hon. Mamokete Ntลกekhe, said mental health is essential to overall well-being and called for greater efforts to listen to and learn from people with lived experience. Their voices must help shape the policies, services, and decisions that affect their lives.
She called on stakeholders to renew their commitment to reducing stigma, improving access to psychological support, promoting patient safety, and ensuring that no one is left behind.
WHO remains committed to supporting the Government of Lesotho and partners in advancing accessible, rights-based, and people-centred mental health care for all.

People with an abnormal breast lump should seek medical care, even if the lump does not hurt.
Most breast lumps are not cancer.
Breast lumps that are cancerous are more likely to be successfully treated when they are small and have not spread to nearby lymph nodes.

As the Integrated Mass Drug Administration and Immunization Campaign comes to a close today, we look back at some of the moments shared with teachers and students across the participating districts.
Beyond the campaign, the message remains clear: protecting childrenโs health is an ongoing responsibility. Teachers, parents, caregivers and communities all have a role to play in promoting healthy practices, supporting future routine immunization and ensuring that children receive essential health services when due.
Lesotho Tests Airport Preparedness for Public Health Emergencies
Ministry of Health, Moshoeshoe 1 international airport management and staff with support from WHO participated in the two-day Port Health Table Talk Simulation Exercise 2026 testing Lesothoโs emergency response plan at Moshoeshoe I International Airport, focusing on early detection, case management and emergency communication.
These stakeholders looked in response procedures, clarified responsibilities and identified gaps requiring attention. Director Airport Services at Moshoeshoe 1 International Airport said protecting the ports of entry is every countryโs responsibility.
โWhen a passenger becomes ill, it cannot be the responsibility of one person or institution alone. It requires a collaborative effort to protect travellers and the wider public,โ said Mrs. โMaqacha Qacha, Director of Airport Services.
The simulation came to an end today.
