If only Tesla had made a consumer friendly model and then that line would be busy 24/7. Still time…
SOS 🚨 For years, the question was how fast Tesla could build cars. With Cybercab, the question is how fast the world can make room for them 🔥
During Munro’s tour of the Cybercab factory, @larsmoravy revealed that the line doesn’t even run every day. In his words, “the line can run so fast it’s currently outpacing our robotaxi deployments, so it’s a bit of a race right now to see who can go faster.”
That’s a remarkable reversal for Tesla.
During the Model 3 ramp, the factory was the bottleneck, and Elon famously called it “production hell”. When Tesla later pushed its lines toward even more automation, it hit a wall. As Lars put it, “the problem wasn’t the automation. The problem was the design”.
That’s why Cybercab was designed around the factory from day one. The car is split into modules that are built and tested in parallel, then joined in about 25 final assembly stations, roughly a fifth to a tenth of what a Model Y needs. The framing line is fully automated, and the whole operation was planned to build thousands of cars a week in about half the usual floor space.
Now the race has moved, and that flips how expansion works. Normally, a new market has to wait for the factory to catch up. With Cybercab, the cars could be ready before the next city is.
And once the cities start catching up, this line finally gets to run every day.
Quite the turnaround from a few weeks ago with the Brazilian elections: Bolsonaro accepts defeat as Lula faces hostility

Putting aside how Munro has changed in recent months, this is a very interesting video with @larsmoravy and @EricETesla and many other of their colleagues explaining some of the fascinating engineering feats behind the Tesla Cybercab
The full video is now live on @YouTube!
A big thank you to @larsmoravy, @EricETesla, and the rest of the Tesla team for taking the time to walk us through the Cybercab and share the engineering, design, and technology behind it.
Yet another night of @Channel4News obsessed with Israel and ignoring UK and other international news. Did they really need to host the news in Jerusalem tonight? Have they forgotten their Dispatches format if they want to delve into something in depth?
Wow so you can’t even cycle down Oxford Street anymore? Good luck enforcing that.
Cyclists are continuing to ride along the newly pedestrianised section of Oxford Street, despite being asked to dismount.
Around seven security staff have been stationed near Oxford Circus, calling out to cyclists to get off their bikes, with mixed success.

Well done Latvia. It’s really only the legacy car countries left to make up their mind at the EU vote.
How long did it take @woodhaus2 to practice getting out of those Tesla Roadster buckets so easily?! Great to see videos of it in real life surfacing this weekend.
It will be interesting to see this today. But a great shame in the way they fired their founder who made Munro what it is.
We can’t wait to share this one with you! Tomorrow, we’re taking a deep dive into the @Tesla Cybercab, exploring the engineering, design, and technology behind it.
Stay tuned!
I really don’t thinks that most people realise what Tesla has achieved with the steering wheel-less Cybercab. It’s quite incredible.
I was a couple of weeks too early for all the fun at COTA’s F1! Looks like the Tesla Robotaxi extension worked well for the event.
A shame older intel cars aren’t getting @tesla software upgrades these days. Feels like it’s more of a commercial decision than technical issue now. We were spoiled by numerous new features in the first 6 years or so: from Sentry to Farting and Caraoke and more!
The last time I was at the @Petersen_Museum I managed to see the Tesla Roadster 2.0. Very envious of those able to see the very latest version 3.0 this weekend! I hope it doesn’t take 9 more years for it to come to market!
A nicely specified Volkswagen ID Polo comes out at £35k! Wow. Only £3k more for a Tesla Model 3 which is a somewhat larger car with a better battery and performance.
Congratulations Berlin - we enjoyed our visit last week! @AndrThie @TeslaOwnersUK
