as much as I thought ScotRail would lose customers to ยฃ2 bus, there is no comparison with Highland and Strathclyde. competition is time not price. Inverness to Wick -3h by bus or 4hr 30 by train. ยฃ26 difference in price. why so long a train journey!!!

commuting in Strathclyde will take longer by bus than train. Paisley to Glasgow - train 18min ยฃ5 v bus 40-50mins ยฃ2

Croftfoot to Glasgow train 20mins ยฃ3.30 v bus 53minutes. the issue maybe Glasgow to Edinburgh as train and bus take similar time

hilarious I wonder how all those Scots managed to become members of the "English" parliament and sat in the House of "English" Lords for the past 300 years when Scotland was a colony. how many other "colonies" elected people to the "English" parliament?

Could this be the reason we have almost 3 times more deaths ?

Replying to @Wass2020
Unfortunately @thesnp would buy it at the value of Fiverland & pass the cost on to the taxpayer as Tennerland. The opening of a shop would be that delayed that Twentyland would no longer cover the cost - THEN the snp would blame Westminster!!

1774: they blew tobacco smoke up drowning victims' backsides to revive them, and the kits hung along the Thames like lifebuoys. 1863: they sold cocaine wine as a daily tonic, and a pope pinned a gold medal on it. 1898: they sold heroin as a cough medicine, and spooned it into coughing children. 1918: they sold radium water as a health drink, and the millionaire who drank 1,400 bottles was buried in a lead-lined coffin with most of his jaw gone. 1921: they put lead in petrol, and Britain kept it in the pumps until 2000. 1930s: they X-rayed children's feet in shoe shops, and kids queued to watch their toes wiggle on the screen. 1940s: they rubbed mercury teething powder into babies' gums, and about 1 in 500 of those babies was poisoned. 1946: they sold cigarettes on the line that more doctors smoked their brand, and put a man in a white coat on the advert. 1949: they gave the lobotomy a Nobel Prize, and doctors went in through the eye socket with an ice pick. 1952: they sold a cigarette filter made of asbestos as the greatest health protection in smoking history, and smokers drew it into their lungs with every puff. 1957: they sold thalidomide to pregnant women for morning sickness, and around 10,000 babies were born with missing or shortened limbs. 1960s: they sold margarine as the heart-healthy fat, and spread trans fat on a generation's toast. 1996: they sold OxyContin as barely addictive, and started an overdose epidemic. 1999: they sold Vioxx for sore joints, and pulled it five years later after tens of thousands of heart attacks. 2026: they're selling seed oil as the heart-healthy fat, and it's in almost every packet in your kitchen. Every one of these came with an expert's blessing and the same total certainty. The people telling you which fat to fear today sit in the same chairs as the ones who put radium in the water and a doctor on the cigarette packet, and they're every bit as sure. "The experts recommend it" has the longest body count in medicine...... The above is copied from another person on another platform. Credit to @samahoole on FB.

My manifesto for learning Every child should have a learning assess at 3. Which is what they do in Finland. masters level trained early years, kindergarten teachers then support every child to their ability, no one is disabled. Progress should be assessed daily not annually.

In scotland we assess children abilities when there is a problem, often 6 yrs too late. Every child sits an exam every year, online, to assess how they have been taught. Once assessed they wait for a โ€œplanโ€, which never comes. I despair ๐Ÿ˜ข๐Ÿ˜ค

Witnessed young herd mentality last night. 20 waiting for bus to ABDN. Bus arrives, no signs but 18 rush to get on. Yes, going to ABDN, not the due bus. 2 adults wait 10 mins for actual bus to arrive, get our booked seats, go. While the herd sit on another bus going nowhere.

Its interesting example of young people trusting a system, not checking facts, doing what an unknown adult tells them. The person going to Glasgow asking if the ABDN bus is going via Glasgow was too much!

parliament has instructed Scot Gov to create legislation to ensure disabled people can have treatment. People with addiction want legislation to let them get treatment. The block is not the government, itโ€™s the system - NHS, COSLA who donโ€™t want to be told how to do their jobs

As Maree Todd delivers the most feeble and unconvincing of responses to substance deaths in the chamber yesterday, still intent on blaming Westminster: "I've spent decades working in addiction and recovery, and I've watched governments become remarkably skilled at explaining why somebody else is responsible for problems they have the power to address. The SNP has perfected the art of demanding powers it doesn't have while avoiding difficult questions about the powers it does." - @Annemarieward scottishdailyexpress.co.uk/cโ€ฆ

Ever wondered why police do not use their powers to stop people taking drugs? Do they think it is a moral issue, freedom of choice to do what we do in privacy of own home? Should health be criminal? Could we argue driving fast or bearing our spouse is a moral issue?
