Update on the Amazon GX10 refund: somehow this has become even more ridiculous. Amazon told me I needed to file a police report before they would help, so I did exactly that. I went to the police, gave them the full timeline, tracking details, photos and unboxing video. They created an official stealing event and gave me a police-issued document containing everything Amazon specifically asked for: the delivery address, confirmation that tracking showed delivered, the stolen item, report date, police station, officer details and official event number. I uploaded it to Amazon expecting this nightmare to finally be over. Amazon rejected it. Their “leadership team” told me they now require the full internal police report, despite their original email never saying that. I explained repeatedly that the police do not release the full internal report directly to the person who made the report. The document I supplied was sent directly by the police officer from an official police email address. It included her name, station, phone number and event number so Amazon could verify it. Amazon still refused to even send it to their specialist validation team. One leadership employee told me she was the highest possible escalation point, repeatedly tried to end the chat and insisted there was nothing else Amazon could do. She would not explain exactly what information was missing from the document. She just kept repeating that it was not the “full official report.” I contacted the police officer again. She confirmed in writing that she is not legally permitted to give me the internal report. To get it, I have to make a formal GIPA/public-information request through the courts. The police may then be required to prepare and release the report through that process. So I have now submitted that request too purely because Amazon has forced me to. That process may take four to eight weeks, potentially one or two months. Here is the best part: Amazon has imposed a hard deadline of 27 August 2026 to provide the report. I asked them directly what happens if the police and court process cannot release it before Amazon’s deadline. Their answer: the deadline will not be moved. So Amazon is demanding a document the police legally cannot hand directly to me, forcing me through a lengthy government and court process to obtain it, while refusing to extend its own deadline if that process takes too long. And all of this is based on Amazon continually treating the incident like the whole parcel was stolen after delivery. It wasn’t. The parcel arrived. The charger was inside. The ASUS packaging was inside. The actual GX10 was missing from an already-opened and tampered with box. A new agent finally asked the most basic question nobody else had bothered to ask: Did you receive an empty package, or did the entire package never arrive? Once I explained it properly, she described it as a tampered parcel with the item missing from inside which is what I have been saying from the beginning. Yet Amazon is still forcing me to prove a “package theft” that never happened, instead of investigating how an opened package containing no GX10 entered their fulfilment and delivery chain. I have provided photos. I offered the full continuous unboxing video. I reported it immediately. I obtained the police event they demanded. I supplied the official police document containing everything they originally requested. I provided the officer’s direct contact details. I obtained written confirmation explaining why the internal report cannot be given directly to me. I have now filed the additional formal request Amazon demanded. Amazon has done nothing except move the goalposts, repeat scripts, threaten to end chats and dump the entire investigative burden onto the customer. They have the warehouse records. They have the return history. They have the packing information. They have the carrier relationship. They have the ability to investigate their own supply chain. I have none of that. But somehow I am now expected to navigate police records, court processes and government-information requests within Amazon’s arbitrary deadline just to receive a refund for an item that was never inside the package they sent me.
