My snowboard in the French Quarter is approaching 9 inches. The snow fall is fairly uniform where the board is, but winds have been so strong. Models think we still have several more inches coming. Just insane.

❄️If you're thinking about trying to measure the snow tomorrow, here are some good tips! Main goal is to have a flat surface away from trees or buildings so they can be as accurate as possible. And yes, crawfish trays can be used for this!😉

Showers and storms will continue this afternoon, and there remains a low risk for severe weather. Gusty winds and a brief tornado can't be ruled out. Rain chances will stay high through the evening. @wlox #mswx

So far we've hit a high of 87° in Gulfport. This beats the old record high of 86° from 2003. 😑 Bleh. @wlox #mswx

The rest of the night will be breezy and warm! Just a heads up that coastal flooding will likely peak late tonight as we approach high tide. Election Day will be warm and humid with highs in the low 80s.

Tropical Storm Rafael has formed! The Hurricane Hunters found that it has strengthened. It is forecast to become a Cat 2 before reaching Cuba. Not much has changed with our thinking once it reaches the Gulf. Strong wind shear and cooler water will help weaken Rafael. @wlox #mswx

Breaking: Invest 97L is now PTC 18! It is expected to become Tropical Storm Rafael by Monday, and possibly a hurricane before moving into the Gulf of Mexico. It could near the northern Gulf Coast by the end of this week as a tropical storm. @wlox #mswx

Please be extremely careful burning or setting up fires this week! In fact, several counites in Mississippi are under a burn ban, including George County. The rest of the week is going to be dry, and we haven't seen rain in Gulfport in about 19 days. @wlox #mswx

Milton is a Cat 5 again. It's incredible & scary to look at on satellite. 😳 Wind shear should weaken Milton before landfall, but it's still going to be a horrible storm for Florida. Meanwhile, the weather is perfect here on the MS Coast! @wlox #mswx wlox.com/video/2024/10/08/ta…

We flew over Hurricane Milton about 90 minutes ago. Here is the view out the Dragon Endeavour window. Expect lots of images from this window as this is where I’m sleeping while we wait to undock and return to Earth. Timelapse coming in a separate post. 1/6400 sec, f8, ISO 500

#MILTON is almost finished its eye wall replacement cycle. You can already see signs of its eye popping back out on satellite tonight. The result will be a much larger hurricane by the time Milton strikes Florida on Wednesday. #TropicalUpdate #flwx 🌀

Hurricane Hunters just found Milton’s pressure has cratered to ~898MB. This would make #MILTON one of the strongest hurricanes in recorded history in the Atlantic Basin. #TropicalUpdate 🌀💣
