From Here to Fraternity: The Young Turks As they continue their perfidious and shock tactic method of reporting the "News" The veil has been slipping off of The Young Turks further and further. The self-described "most watched news channel on the internet" and "the home of the progressives" has always been a covert operation by Conservative businessman Cenk Uygur. A man can't hide who he is and over the course of the last fifteen years Uygur has been beseeching a left-wing ideology to appeal to left wing people however it has all just been a ruse to smuggle right wing ideologies into the left in an attempt to hurt The Democratic Party. Since Bernie Sanders lost the 2020 Democratic Primary to Joe Biden Uygur and his sidekick Screaming Anna Kasparian have come out further and further as the Republicans in sheep's clothing that they really are. Advocating for the recall of popular California Governor Gavin Newsome and railing against Los Angeles Democrats including fully campaigning on their show against Democratic Mayoral Candidate Karen Bass in favor of her opponent Republican Businessman Rick Caruso. What can he say? Cenk loves Republican businessmen being one himself. Bass garnered the most votes of in Mayor candidate in the history of Los Angeles. Much like Joe Biden collecting the most votes ever for a President. Democratic wins and Republican defeats drive TYT absolutely crazy and with each one the progressive disguise falls further and further off of their Conservative faces. TYT's change in tone at first subtle has abruptly morphed into something blatantly overt. No more easily defined in their coverage of police. One could easily make the case that TYT's coverage of the police has been dishonest at best and nefarious and highly dangerous at worst. Their coverage on Police is that they use every video of someone being arrested or shot by the police and have lumped it all into one category of police racism and police misconduct. TYT has been known to do so much foaming at the mouth anti police videos that one of their contributors Gavin Long pushed along by raging videos by TYT and their former partner Jimmy Dore murdered three cops in Texas. Mysteriously however since candidate Karen Bass announced her run for L.A Mayor they have forfeited all the rage against law and order in favor of The Republican talking point of out-of-control crime and homelessness in blue cities that Democrats refuse to address. For months leading up to the midterm elections Uygur promised a red wave much the way he promised a Bernie victory against Joe Biden and a Trump victory against Joe Biden. Uygur was so certain of impending wallop of Democrats by Republicans his election night coverage included non-other than Republican Matt Gaetz. Uygur brought Gaetz on so when the red wave came, he could gloat and rub it in Democrats faces and play the "Democrats have to earn my vote, but Republicans don't" game. The red wave never came and now the veil over Uygur has fallen further and the exposing of this huge red herring is out there. TYT planned to take off its disguise fully that night, but Democrats once again railroaded Uygur. No wonder he hates them and calls them "bastards" and "Feckless" incessantly. Democrats ruin his fantasy and his grift that somehow, they're not leftist enough and there are phantom progressives somewhere out there who can do a better job, but Democrats are rigging it against them. Democrats' success are Uygur's failures. In December of 2020 Uygur and former employee Jimmy Dore who left TYT in 2019 clashed on twitter and in dueling videos as Dore urged congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez to buck House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's bid for speakership in order to force a vote on Medicare for all. Cenk actually criticized the possible move as the foolish unproductive nonsense that it was. Since that moment TYT's viewership has steadily fallen. When Dore left TYT he was so popular he took a major part of the audience with him. All the kooky leftists and right wingers who watched the way Liberals watch Fox News with him. Especially the real rose brigade types. The one's addicted to raging podcasts and who think Joe Rogan is a great mind but won't let a new thought slip into their head without a fight. After TYT viewership cratered it sent them scrambling for an audience. They didn't seem to know what to do or who to appeal to. TYT has since seemed to try a little bit of everything. TYT gets its news from Fox News, CNN and MSNBC, Politico so naturally they're completely uninformed. They don't do any actual reporting. Going through major Trump withdrawal just like the networks they decided to go all in on the mainstream news obsession with Joe Biden. Trying to turn Joe Biden into the sensationalism of the Trump years that brought big numbers. Inflation, supply chain, gas prices and all the baloney. TYT turned into CNN which makes sense considering that's the very online news channel that is more watched than theirs and who they have been chasing this whole time. Unbeknownst to TYT CNN ratings would also go into the tank after their unhinged coverage of Biden's amazingly successful Afghanistan withdrawal at which CNN went full blown nuts. Setting up 24/7 outrage coverage of what they kept calling a failure. CNN reporters taking it personally attacking Biden on air and online. TYT's channel turned into Jimmy Dore's. Nonstop attacks on Democrats with occasional honey traps set for Leftists with halfhearted and half assed commentary about Republicans almost just thrown in just out of habit. Cenk Uygur wants to go full right wing online, but he has no idea how to do it. So, he continues to be passive aggressive with it just to be a contrarian and a malcontent waiting for his chance to leap out. He hoped the red wave would give him the chance he needed but Democrats held Republicans back. Now he sits in limbo as simply a fully mainstream corporate news show that happens to be online. He has now had to explain why Matt Gaetz was on his show and he sounds like more of a fool and a lying Republican while doing it. Where does the so-called progressive news go from here. Expect more of the same. When Trump was in office TYT was 99.9% Trump coverage just like all the mainstream corporate networks because he was good for ratings. Cenk and Anna barely tweeted four years during the Trump years. You can look it up. They stayed far away from Twitter, rarely tweeting, or engaging with people online at all. This was for a few reasons. Many people rightfully blamed them for helping get Donald Trump elected and would let them know it in daily replies to their tweets. They didn't need to advertise for their show because Trump coverage was bringing in enough viewership where they didn't have to worry about jumping out there. Even to their most deranged viewers Democrats looked like the good guys in comparison with Trump and the loony depraved GOP in his full control the entire four years he was in office. Cenk and Anna didn't reappear online fully until Bernie Sanders announced he was running again. They were suddenly on twitter constantly. Again, you can look it up. Bernie Sanders is a major part of their disguise as progressives. With Trump they can't pretend they're more left than Democrats. Bernie gives them that cover as he has assumed the self-labeled role of the most left person in the room his entire career. When Biden won the president TYT has lived on Twitter the exact reverse position as with four years of Trump. Their ratings went down, and their money subscriptions declined. Like the mainstream news they have to be in constant fundraiser mode with the boring Biden and trying to make him appear like an outrageous story 24/7. When TYT doesn't feel like the biggest leftists in the room it's time to jump out there. During Trump this was impossible because compared to him everyone looks like a leftist. TYT is praying for another Bernie run in 2024 and that's about all they have to look forward to for the next two years. As Republicans get more and more radical it's getting harder and harder to frame Democrats as the bad guys and as "Feckless Bastards" As Democrats pick up big wins it's harder and harder to call them feckless. This is all Cenk Uygur does. It's all he has. It's all any progressive grifters have really, that's what happens when you put all of your eggs in the Bernie basket. They get broken and they have to wait for Bernie to lay down some more. But as we clearly witnessed in the 2020 Primary and even in the 2016 primary Bernie's popularity is a cold-water mirage. Bernie is infertile, he has no eggs left inside him to lay. The better Biden does the better any Democrat does the more irrelevant Bernie Sanders becomes. The more irrelevant Bernie Sanders becomes the more we'll see the progressive veils fall off of conservative faces. After Gen Z came out in the midterms and voted against Republicans TYT is attacking them Neoliberals. Of course, most Gen z who came out to vote are people of color. TYT has nothing to say about the white Gen Z's who voted for their hopeful red wave. Uygur also has a book to sell. Set for release next year and it's called, Justice Is Coming: How Progressives Are Going To Take Over The Country and America Is Going To Love IT. No, really that's the actual title. It's actually just a "manifesto" because we know how popular those are these days. Manifestos are written by white men who shoot up shopping malls and bomb federal building. Cenk is kind of like the political information version of Timothy McVeigh. Openly clamoring for political results that lead to republicans in power and get people hurt. The manifesto would have been better for Uygur had Republicans pulled of their red wave dreams. He likely believes that with the numbers of TYT's regular viewers he can sell enough copies to turn a big profit but like with his channel who does he really think the audience for this book is? My best guess is that Uygur believes his channel and ideology appeals to independents, that large segment of society who likes to put on a front and self-aggrandizing show pretending they don't have a political stance. However, I believe that Jimmy Dore's popularity on TYT summed up a huge segment of their audience and it's the people who don't vote at all. They're somehow relaxed no matter who wins. They have nothing to worry about and no skin in the game. TYT appeals to the people who choose to sit it out. But the people who sit it out will eventually sit you out as well. They certainly can't be relied on. Uygur is known for putting all his eggs in one basket. He was a hard right Republican and however genuine it was or not he switched all the way to the other side of the line as a hard leftist. He went from one political extreme to the other. Which is a trait very much embodied in what you see in the people involved in QAnon. Many of them were at Ralph Nader and Jill Stein rallies. Uygur will wait until his book comes out to decide where to go next. If it does well then, he'll stick with the Progressive shtick and just continue to add on right wing tactics and ideologies into it all in the name of sacrifice for real revolution. If the book bombs he'll come out further and further as returning fully to Conservatism. Cenk is already a millionaire who received $20 million dollars from Republican Governor Buddy Roemer and $20 Million from Hollywood big shot Jeffery Katzenberg but he's still getting money from viewers to fund an already paid for show that costs virtually nothing to produce but his time. He has the time to continue that no question. But Cenk really craves those Joe Rogan numbers and probably still wakes up in a cold sweat seeing the $100 Million sign in his head that Spotify paid Rogan for the right to his podcast. In the end like with Alex Jones and Jimmy Dore and all the rest of they're both in the same fraternity together and there's always a dorm room for grifting. -RWI
