Something "they" won't teach you in school is the outcome of the 1938 Évian Conference. It was a widely-attended meeting to seek countries willing to accept Germany's Jews.

Australia’s representative stated directly that the country had “no real racial problem” and was “not desirous of importing one.” Several Latin American delegations specified preferences against merchants and intellectuals—standard coded language for urban Ashkenazi professionals—and some required Christian baptism or intermarriage conditions.
