David Jolly: The other side of the aisle likes to throw around the term socialism. I just call it cheaper insurance. But tell me what a hurricane fund currently is that bails out our insurance companies?
It sounds a whole lot like socialism to me.
What does it mean when we give Elon Musk billions of dollars of tax credits and we don't tax his profits? Sounds a whole lot like socialism to me.
What about a president who says, hey, if you vote for me and elect my team, we're going to give you a $5,000 check? What about a president who removes Maduro but supports Delce in Venezuela? What about a president who suggests we should allow investment in the hospitality industry on the island of Cuba? What about a president who invited Vladimir Putin to South Florida to come to Miami in December, a leader who has backed the Maduro regime, the Sandinistas, and the Cuban regime? They don't even understand economic theory on the other side of the aisle, folks.
They're just arguing labels to try to scare us and divide us.

I did not do the Jeffrey Epstein investigation alone. I had the support of @MiamiHerald —it’s then executive editor, Mindy Marques; and these two incredible journalists, investigations editor Casey Frank and visual journalist Emily Michot. Thank you to all the courageous victims who shared their stories with me, and to those on the Pulitzer Board who made this honor of a lifetime happen. #pulitzerprizes

A strong decision by the U.S. State Department – authorizing Ukraine’s purchase of Patriot interceptors to counter Russian ballistic missiles. Five hundred PAC-3 interceptors is a substantial number, and very soon – this winter – they COULD make for a highly effective defense package. However, it has been stipulated that deliveries may begin ONLY IN A FEW YEARS. We are asking our American partners to find a solution for the time when there is a real danger and a real need to use PAC-3 interceptors.
Right now, the Russians are attacking our energy infrastructure every single day. In just these past two weeks of October, there have already been more than 30 Russian strikes on critical parts of our power grid. It is right now, even before the beginning of winter, that Putin has started carrying out his operation to attack the systems that sustain life in our cities and communities. The targets are electricity, heating, water supplies, bridges, and life in our cities in general.
We did ask our American partners to provide Ukraine with a winter support package – at a rate of 100 Patriot interceptors per month. Five hundred missiles would be enough to protect our skies over the coming months – precisely when it is so important for Ukraine to be in a strong position in negotiations and for Russia NOT to succeed in breaking life in Ukrainian cities and communities.
The United States, our European partners, and other partners around the world have sufficient stocks of PAC-3 interceptors in their warehouses. Providing them to Ukraine right now – in the winter of 2026–2027 – and replenishing our partners’ arsenals LATER, in THE FOLLOWING YEARS, through this production already contracted and paid for by Ukraine and our partners would be the right approach. And it is entirely feasible.
We are grateful to President Trump. Importantly, we recently discussed PAC-3 interceptors with Secretary of State Marco Rubio. Ukraine is grateful to the U.S. State Department and the U.S. Administration overall for granting this authorization. But we are asking for decisions that can guarantee the protection of lives not the day after tomorrow or sometime later, but at the very moment the threat is there – when Russia is killing and destroying. I thank everyone who stands with Ukraine!

Poland tonight for dummies
The attack dogs of pro-Russian, pro-MAGA, and anti-EU propaganda are out in full force over what's happening in Poland, portraying the PiS camp as the victim of an alleged coup.
How convenient.
Let's remember who started this.
In 2015, PiS began dismantling the rule of law in Poland, illegally filling seats on the Constitutional Tribunal and subjecting key judicial institutions to political influence.
For eight years, they undermined the very democratic safeguards they now claim to defend.
They lost power in 2023, but their control over parts of the state survived. Now, as Donald Tusk's government tries to restore judicial independence, the same political camp screams dictatorship and presents itself as the victim.
You can't spend eight years undermining the rule of law and then invoke it as a shield against accountability.
Poland's democratic institutions belong to its citizens, not to one political party determined to cling to power after losing an election.
Restoring the rule of law is not a coup. It's a democratic duty. And it must be carried out in accordance with the Constitution.

I spent 20 years in the health insurance industry. I know how much these companies prefer to keep behind closed doors. Now we're learning that Palantir has been operating behind those doors, too.
Is Palantir's technology helping insurers decide what medical care gets approved or denied? And why are we only learning about these relationships now?
Read more about these revelations in HEALTH CARE un-covered: healthcareuncovered.substack…

The report also reveals Palantir's involvement in Medicare's new (and controversial) WISeR program, which uses private AI companies to determine whether or not seniors get approval for certain medical procedures. Palantir is part of a consortium selected to carry out the WISeR program in Arizona, which we didn’t know about for the past 10 months.
These AI vendors earn 25% of the money saved by denying care, even as the Trump administration’s own CMS acknowledged serious problems with the program’s implementation.
We wrote about that in HEALTH CARE un-covered: healthcareuncovered.substack…

For the first time, we're hearing about previously undisclosed connections between Palantir and some of America's biggest health insurers: Aetna, Humana, Cigna and Blue Shield of California.
A new report from the Center for Health & Democracy Education Fund examines documents obtained by the Electronic Frontier Foundation that claim Palantir's technology is already being used by insurers for functions including "decision support."

🔴 FURTHER UPDATE: Following his return to Poland, President Karol Nawrocki is expected to meet with First President of the Supreme Court Zbigniew Kapiński, who heads the country's Supreme Court and represents its judicial leadership.
After 21:00, Kapiński issued a strongly worded statement expressing his indignation and opposition to the actions taken against the Constitutional Tribunal.
He specifically criticised the deployment of police officers to the Tribunal, the reported obstruction of the Vice-President's access to the building and the issuance of orders suspending the Tribunal's president and vice-president from their duties.
Kapiński warned that police officers must not become instruments for restricting the activities of constitutional institutions, adding that the ability of senior state officials to perform their duties must not be determined by the use or threat of force.

🇵🇱 For everyone asking what's happening in Poland tonight, here are the key points:
1. The Constitutional Tribunal's leadership has been challenged.
Judge Anna Korwin-Piotrowska issued orders suspending Tribunal President Bogdan Święczkowski and Vice-President Bartłomiej Sochański from their duties for one month. She claims authority to take over the Tribunal's leadership as its most senior judge.
2. Why did she do this?
Korwin-Piotrowska accuses the existing leadership of obstructing the work of judges elected by the current parliamentary majority, violating judicial procedures and preventing the proper functioning of the Tribunal. She also raised concerns about the court's 2027 budget.
3. The Tribunal rejects the orders.
Its existing leadership says the official website was illegally taken over and insists that Święczkowski remains president. The legality of Korwin-Piotrowska's decisions is disputed.
4. Police entered the building.
Following the announcement, demonstrators gathered outside the Tribunal. Tensions escalated, with some people reportedly climbing over the fence and throwing objects at police officers. Police intervened and several people were detained.
5. Why is this Tribunal so important?
The Constitutional Tribunal determines whether laws and other legal acts comply with Poland's Constitution. Its decisions can affect legislation, government actions and the country's entire legal system. Control over its leadership therefore has major constitutional and political significance.
6. This conflict has been building for months.
Prime Minister Donald Tusk's government and President Karol Nawrocki have been locked in a dispute over the Tribunal's composition. Nawrocki refused to swear in three judges elected by parliament, while the Tribunal's existing leadership refused to allow judges appointed by the current parliamentary majority to take their seats.
Tusk's government does not recognise the Tribunal's legitimacy and has refused to publish some of its rulings, citing controversial judicial appointments made under the previous PiS government.
7. Political reactions are escalating.
PiS leader Jarosław Kaczyński called on President Nawrocki to intervene, accusing Tusk's government of turning Poland into a police state. Nawrocki cancelled his trip to Senegal and announced that he is returning to Poland.
Tusk, meanwhile, says restoring the rule of law is a difficult but necessary process.
The situation is still developing. Both sides dispute the legality of the actions taken, and the legal authority behind the latest orders remains unresolved.
Poland is now facing one of its most serious institutional confrontations in recent years. What happens next will depend on whether the two sides can resolve this dispute through legal and constitutional channels or whether the standoff escalates further. For now, Warsaw remains at the centre of a crisis that could have far-reaching consequences for the country's institutions and political future.

Here is why the current DoD narrative on firing of Lt Gen Sylvia is so odd. Did the chairman of joint chiefs know about alleged three lie detector failures and then still keep Sylvia on the job? For how long? Did he agree to let his very top people be tested? Why was the first statement wishing Gen Sylvia the best then amended to something less? Was the chairman aware? We just don’t know

In Trump’s America, there are two immigration systems: one where his wealthy, well-connected allies are welcomed while hardworking immigrants with clean records are terrorized in the streets.
Trump is harboring the election-denying son of a wannabe dictator fleeing prosecution, while turning his back on people fleeing war and famine. Shameful.
