🔎 WIDTH Pulse | This Week in Compliance & Regulation
This week’s developments across Singapore, Hong Kong, the UAE, Thailand and Australia highlight how effective compliance depends on more than policies and documentation. Regulators and enforcement agencies are looking for sound governance, reliable evidence and controls that work in practice.
Across these developments, one theme stands out: effective compliance requires institutions to look beyond surface-level checks. From complaint handling and market surveillance to identity verification and customer due diligence, defensible decisions depend on reliable evidence, clear accountability and controls that address the underlying risk.
Read this week’s WIDTH Pulse for the key developments and their implications for compliance and risk management.

WIDTH is now listed on PathFin.ai, the MAS-led initiative that helps financial institutions discover and adopt proven AI solutions.
Our listing includes a case study from a Singapore-based digital brokerage and investment platform serving retail investors. The platform needed to verify customers remotely, reduce manual data entry and counter spoofing and deepfake attempts, while giving its compliance analysts clearer context on which transaction alerts warrant investigation.
WIDTH supports the platform's onboarding with OCR, identity document verification, liveness detection and face comparison. In transaction monitoring, configurable AML rules flag activity, machine learning helps analysts decide whether a rule hit warrants a case, and Graph Intelligence reveals transactional links between payers and payees. Analysts remain accountable for final decisions, and each decision carries a cited rationale and an audit trail.
Outcomes described in the case study include less manual data entry, layered identity verification and better alert quality, with fewer false positives and more true positive detections.
Singapore-based financial institutions onboarded on PathFin.ai can also apply for 50% co-funding under MAS's AI Pathfinder track to deploy solutions listed on the platform. Registered PathFin.ai users can read the full case study on WIDTH's solution provider page.
