i found out theres an official orange islands shirt except Tracey isnt on it at all 90% of the limited amount of orange island merch ive seen does not have tracey, they seem to go out of their way not to have him

like something about having character design notes by bullet point like its an annual report feels so wrong even the casting and direction around carrey doesnt work, limpet isnt a carrey role hes a wimpy pencil necked geek character not the roles carrey plays

watching mr limpet and its really amazing that everyone just accepts that george saw a talking animated fish and doesn't assume everyone on the crew is just insane

it makes me wish wb made more animated films in the classic animation period, i know why Disney cornerered that market in the golden age (money, poor experience) but its a shame

i think one point that goes unnoted when looking at these kinds of b-movie/grindhouse pics is that above all the goal was "what can we get cheaply" foreign films, esp those from japan and europe (and even some mexico) were cheap to acquire and dub, taste and quality was secondary

frank, ladd, aip, even saban to an extent lived by this rule its not as polished as the majors, some would consider them schlock, but there's nothing else like a "chinese hercules" and that makes them so interesting that wasnt a frank pic but same spirit

robotech or voltron are great examples, just the fact that these are three different shows frankensteined for syndication is more interesting than if it was done straight maybe macross is an exception cuz it's well regarded but would anyone talk about it 40 years later otherwise
