400,000 Palestinians in East Jerusalem do not have the right to vote. What's that? A faux pas?
Today, two million Arabs had the right to vote in a free and fair election in the Middle East. In a region where that freedom is nonexistent, only one country guarantees it: Israel.

This was a plausible theory among McConnell allies at the time; he still had a lot of juice then. Could his conviction vote win 10 Republicans? It’s at least plausible. If so the Senate could have barred Trump from running again. McConnell voted to acquit and the rest is history.
Former Rep. @Liz_Cheney (R-WY) says she believes President Trump would have been convicted if Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) decided to convict: "I think if he had voted to convict, we would have had enough Republicans who would have followed him that he would've been convicted."

It goes without saying that on a historic election night for the Arab voters, in which they’ve elected an unprecedented number of MKs, Netanyahu has just totally disregarded them as equal citizens. But that was to be expected. What’s more disappointing (though sadly not very surprising) is that the Jewish opposition leaders didn’t make any gesture in their speeches to the Arabs either, and spoke of a “Zionist” government. They deserve to lose to Netanyahu.

The election results, if they’re anywhere near the exit polls, puts Israel in a fateful position. A clear majority is against the Netanyahu coalition. A clear majority is against a government including the Arab parties. The centrist parties have a massive dilemma here. Which taboo will they break? Netanyahu’s strategy is clear. Run a delegitimisation campaign against a government supported by the Arab parties and run down the clock until either part of the opposition breaks and joins him or there’s no alternative but to hold another election. Which he will have a better chance of winning. The opposition’s only alternative is to make the numbers, which on paper are in their favour, actually work. The opposition beat the Netanyahu camp. The Arab parties won an unprecedented number of seats. But to add those numbers together so they can support a sustainable government flies in the face of every Israeli political precedent. The next weeks and months will be tortuous and the increasingly likely outcome is just another election.

No asylum for people fleeing war in Sudan or conflict in Haiti, but Rubio is rolling out the red carpet for Bolsonaro. Apparently, fleeing violence doesn’t qualify. Denying election results does.
UPDATE: The State Department plans to issue visas to Flávio Bolsonaro and his family to allow them entry into the United States, a senior State Department official said.

Walking the line outside the Trump rally in Corinth, I was reminded that more unites us than divides us here in Mississippi. I heard from folks who want to get foreign money out of our elections, put an end to flock cameras, keep our border secure, and make sure our veterans are taken care of. Thank you to everyone who took the time to talk with me and share what matters most to them. When I’m elected to the U.S. Senate, I’ll represent every Mississippian — whether you voted for me or not. That’s what the job is all about. #MississippiMatters

I’m laughing so hard. The whole drama about “dropping a new ad” for Michigan or Netanyahu starting the Iran War … he just dusted off one of his old ads from his failed 2024 presidential run. See the date on the tweet. Apparently Israel was then responsible for expensive eggs.
This is the ad that’s going viral right now on TikTok. This #CeasefireAd can help us get delegates in the Democratic primary to fight for #CEASEFIRE_NOW. Please share and help us run this ad in the upcoming primary states at CenkForAmerica.com

At the end of 2012 (i.e. after the letter AES signed), Morsi issued a decree immunizing himself from judicial review. I urged members of Congress to condition US aid to Egypt to hold him accountable. Guess who voted to give the MB gov't all its money anyway? Mike Rogers. 2/

I’ll be honest: I’m scared tonight. The Russians have launched another round of ballistic missiles at Kyiv, where it’s increasingly clear this is the new frontline. So I’m back to the shelter with my water bottle, passport and medication, just in case.

Turnout in Serbia is high, apparently circa 70%. Voters did their part. But the emerging scenes in the capital are also what we expected all along; that the Vucic regime will not simply concede power. A long night ahead and many days yet before true outcomes are clear.
This is concerning: dozens of men in black hoodies said to be SNS supporters are gathering in downtown Belgrade after riot police were deployed in the same area earlier today. The Student List has asked its supporters to avoid confrontation and stay safe.

Fascinating clip: Serbia's acting President engaging randomly with people on the street, seemingly stunned by the outcome of the vote.
Incredible footage of Serbia’s acting President Ana Brnabic, Vucic’s longtime aide, in profanity-laced argument with Student List supporters in the streets of the capital, as massive crowds celebrate the SNS defeat all over the country.
