Our next #BookPost is thanks to @postwave_books, who sent us The Mole and the Mound and the House Underground by @WillHDOfficial and Kasia Fryza. They say don't judge a book by its cover, or in this case don't judge a home by its mound! Mole is planning to build a grand home...

The Mole and the Mound (and the House Underground) by @WillHDOfficial & #KasiaFryza is a hugely engaging and completely delightful story that will captivate readers. When comparing animal homes, there’s no doubt mole’s is best! @postwave_books #PictureBookFriday

My favourite thing about writing kids books is reading about the animals you're writing about and discovering just how fascinating every animal's world is. #kidlit #childrensauthor – at Lulsgate Bottom, England

For my next #picturebook - set to publish in 2026 - I found myself writing about a #beaver habitat. My 11yo brother told me 'NO! That couldn't happen because a beaver's lodge is NOT the same as it's dam!' And only then did I realise that beavers live in lodges. WILD! 🦫 – at Lulsgate Bottom, England

The more you read about animals, the more you realise that superheroes, inventions, and impressive feats of construction that we read about in fiction most often DO EXIST in some way, shape, or form. It's not always what we learn about in school, but dive a little deeper... :) – at Lulsgate Bottom, England

A smoot is a hole left in a drystone wall for rabbits or other small animals to get through. I see many on my walks but this one (from Ambleside) has to be the most elaborate. A cathedral among smoots!
