Minnesotans should pay for tuition for anyone who wants to become a teacher.
Some math. If we gave each student $10k for tuition per year. We did that for 2000 students a year. Over ten years it would cost $560M. We would put 16,000 new teachers into our schools. With little to no debt.
Education funding hasn’t kept up with inflation for years. 21’Inflation 4.1% while funding was increased 2.45%. Short $108m compared to inflation. next year it will be $199M below inflation. In one budget -307M compared to inflation. #mnleg #surplus4students

With PPP & UI done, tax committee has ~$100M for other expenditures.
Good ideas: Aid to homeless students ($25M), working families credit (tbd), property tax refund ($30M)
Dumb ideas: historical structures ($30M), film credit ($20M), commercial property tax cut ($30M)
