Last but not least, Mario. As a 7th grader, he only beat 3 people at sectionals running 13:18, this year he ran 12:11 as our 3rd man finishing 23rd! Last winter he wanted to quit distance running all together and be a sprinter, I think he made the right choice sticking with it!
An interesting part of our boys team is that both boys teams to qualify to state had a Quick on it! Chris was on our 1st state team in 2021, this year his younger brother JJ led us to a sectional win! Chris is a SR on the varsity Palatine team, cool family moment for the Quick's!
Some great stories out of sectionals, first Ella and Jocelyn.
Ella went from 14:46 at sectionals last year to 13:54 this year. She was aggressive from the start and put herself in contention to qualify and that's all I asked of her, proud of her willingness to take a risk!
Our girls finish 9th at sectionals yesterday with Ella and Jocelyn leading the way. Ella improved by 52 from last years sectionals and Jocelyn ran for the first time ever!
