Day 190 orbit 2945 — Woohoo! First spacewalk: ✅ You could probably hear it in my voice over the radio, but I L-O-V-E-D working in the vacuum of space! It's truly an adventure within the adventure, made all the more special because it's a team effort. 👨‍🚀👩‍🚀 Only two of us go outside, but we're supported by a huge team: Mission Control in Houston, with @AstroAnnimal as our voice link on the radio, not to mention our crewmates aboard the Station. We know how much time and energy went into planning every task, testing every possible scenario, preparing backup plans B, C and D for contingencies, and being ready to adapt the objectives in real time if needed. There may be only two of us in spacesuits, but we're backed by the work, expertise and collective experience of hundreds of people, and that makes an EVA even more intense! I was also very happy to share this spacewalk with @astro_anil. We already knew it from training together in the NBL, but this EVA confirmed just how complementary we are. We each have our own strengths, and that allowed us to overcome challenges efficiently and in good spirits. We were extremely well prepared, which was a really good thing, because not everything went exactly as planned! DIY enthusiasts, mechanics, and anyone who does hands-on work knows that there's sometimes a gap between theory 📚 and practice 🛠️. Sometimes you have to try several approaches before finding the right one, and sometimes you simply have to put all your strength and energy into it. During a spacewalk, it's exactly the same! 🚀 🎥 Screengrab from Anil's helmet camera Credit: @esa / @NASA #εpsilon • @esaspaceflight • @Space_Station • @NASAJohnson
