I agree with Atwoli, IN PRINCIPLE. But he's talking of the natural progression of society, the young work and gain experience, and become leaders based on that experience. And Kenya is NOT a normal society. The British messed that up. As @TedQuinton said, in 1963, the 27 year olds straight out of school, who should have been starting work, were becoming leaders in 1963 by virtue of their certificates. Not only were they young, inexperienced and clueless; they were looking at least 20 years in office before retirement. So they were never real youth, meaning people who learned through WORK. They never matured, and imperialism was very effective in seducing them with consumerism and power as the equivalent of leadership. So they didn't build institutions I'm which they could graduate to elders and invite the young to nurture them so that they grow through work. That's why our elites are perpetually young. They never grew up. The British messed us up, big time. The messed up natural progression of growth, maturity and hand over. I asked @Wordslinger__ that when Naboisho Institute is ready, to please find me young Kenyans who want to be mentored as academics outside the university. People who are willing to commit years to learning. It takes years to get where I am, but Kenyan post graduate students don't care to learn the work. They want papers. So we babysit them to produce a decent document and then go. I am going to retire without mentoring a single student, in the real sense of the word. Passing them, I've done. Mentoring them? Nope. The few students that I tried with said I was controlling them. Maybe because in their view, I'm not a leader. Nikaacha na hiyo stori.

After sharing my ordeal at the #standardcharteredmarathon some of you have reached out sharing your experiences and challenges that you faced during the run, previous runs and hikes. From injuries to unexpected bathroom calls, the list goes on and on! It’s very much human to beat yourself down for what happened, however, you have to make peace with it and keep going, and the sooner you do that, the better for you! Not every race or even training block goes as planned! My challenges began in August with a hip flexor injury, forcing me to take a 2 week break and lots of physio sessions as I focused on healing! Fast forward to the run, I had a very good first half, covering it in 1:21:43, and I was confident that I could cover the remaining half in 1:20. However, my stomach issues kicked in a km after, and from there on, my focus shifted from pace to surviving and finishing the marathon! And that’s the whole point, things sometimes do fall apart, and when they do, don’t let that dull your spirit. Pick yourself up, do what you have to do, and keep going! To those who have injuries, I wish you a quick recovery. Take some time off to heal & recover, then get back to it! To the @stanchartkenya_ thank you for a very well organized run! The support was really impressive! There was enough @orshydrationkenya and @reload_ke also came through, not forgetting all the marshals, and everyone who was on the ground offering support to the thousands of runners! See you on the next one! @adidasrunning @adidas

@kenyanpundit has mentioned that 18-24 haven't all registered as voters. How do we get them to register? Can we have a drive to ask their friends to ask them to register? The ones who've registered ask the ones who haven't to do so? Then we see how the numbers move?

In other words, "Deal with it!" 🤔
President William Ruto on the ask for the agreement underlying the ~ US$16.0 billion Dangote East Africa Refinery in Lamu & the purchase of the ~ 24.0% stake in Kenya Pipeline. He says the shares are available in the market anyway, anyone can buy.

There's a scene in Shaka where his mother shows "mercy" to someone who was particularly treacherous and let's them live, and that's the exact person who later kills the King. You cannot show "mercy" to a treacherous snake and allow it to live in your house. You'll reap terror.
You will agree with me that Jon Snow was wrong for doing this right?

No. 2 is why I don’t even bother to debate two-term folk or disingenuous “help me understand how Sifuna will be different” guys. Just block.

What am I missing? Isn't it the job of the Senate and of Senators to exercise oversight on matters like this? And should the GoK not facilitate that process by providing the requisite documents, not just to Senate but to any citizen whois interested? xitter.cf/a_m_media_ke/status/21…

Pathetic. Westlands residents have been looking at the little remaining greenery around them getting wiped out & have done nothing. Is their muscle strictly limited to extortionate rent prices & junk food? I mean, those brunch conversations need to go beyond sex gossip & matcha.

“Do you understand who you are dealing with? This is America. Back up.” A United Nations meeting was dramatically suspended yesterday after US ambassador Mike Waltz and Cuban foreign minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla both ignored the chair’s plea for order in the chamber. The problem started when Waltz blamed Cubans for the shocking US embargoes and blockades that are causing huge suffering to the people of the island. Cuban representatives, astonished at the way Waltz blamed the victims for the crisis, in their eyes, stood up and objected, citing Rule 71, which allows listeners to raise a point of order. Ambassador Waltz responded that the Cubans didn’t like the substance of his speech, so were not raising a point of order. But when complaints continued, this caused Ambassador Waltz to lose his temper and shout “Back up! Back away. Do you understand what you’re dealing with? This is America.” . INTERNATIONAL TERRITORY The rest of the United Nations was outraged by this attitude, as the UN building is legally international territory. When Waltz refused to stop his tirade, Khalilur Rahman, chair of the 81st session, ordered that the meeting be instantly suspended. Waltz ignored him. The meeting was then resumed, but footage of the argument created a huge storm on social media. Some people in the US defended Waltz’s narrative, blaming Cubans for the suffering caused by the US embargos. But much of the commentary from the rest of the world said that the United Nations, for the safety of the delegates and the organization itself, should no longer be situated in New York. When New York was originally chosen as the site, the US pledged not to politicize US visa access to meetings—but has regularly broken the pledge, such as refusing to allow visas for Palestinians. . .

You aren't going to free women from the church by shouting at the institution from social media. You are going to free women from the church by creating the social infrastructure they need to be able to live without it. 1/

It is easy to talk and give ideas without taking action. I was challenged by many people, including members within the movement, to spearhead the volunteer efforts. For that reason, I came up with a volunteer registration form, attached below. If you WANT to volunteer to perform any task for LMM, please fill out the form below: google.com/url?q=https://doc…

Hapo kwa LED lights I support. People out here driving with beams that can perform both lasic and brain surgery 💀
NTSA wamemwagwa kwa highway! There’s a countrywide crackdown. Make sure you don’t overspeed, have a valid DL, insurance is active, and avoid driving at night if your car has LED lights.

Not Morara. He had nothing on him, no thought process, no conviction. That's why on week 5 we heard him advising that child molestation was a matter of kuongea na wazee. Zero substance.
What Sifuna is today is what Morara could have been. He had the youth behind him, the influence, and the momentum to build something bigger than himself. All he needed to do was listen. We could have built our own youth party, fielded our own candidates, and sparked our own Serbia moment. Sadly, that opportunity slipped away.
