The Burnham regime is even more repressive of free speech than the Starmer regime.
Anyone planning to attend a demonstration in support of Palestine Action in the vicinity of the US Embassy on Saturday, 31 October will face arrest as part of a robust policing operation.
Expressing support for the group is an offence under the Terrorism Act following its proscription in June 2025, a decision upheld by the Court of Appeal in June 2026.

THREAD. Every single time you see Democrats, Jacobin Magazine, Malcolm Gladwell, or a non-profit organization telling you to support existing levels of policing and police budgets, understand this is what they want you to support:

A decision by the Burnham government that is absurd as it is dangerous. Banning Malm, one of the world’s leading climate scholars, from speaking at a public event and an academic conference is as blatant an attack on free speech as it comes.
The Home Office has blocked Andreas Malm from entering the UK.
Politicians, academics, writers and artists have condemned the decision.

🚨NEW🚨We obtained nearly 200 pages of handwritten testimonies from men in ICE detention in Texas, denouncing allegations of abuse and conditions inside.
They include details of an aggressive ICE arrest, the beating of a man by private guards, substandard conditions, and labor “exploitation” inside.
The packet we reviewed also includes vivid drawings and songs:

Their goal is routine disciplining of Israel critics but the reason they’re going scorched earth here is El-Sayed would be the first (what they index as) openly anti-zionist candidate to win a swing state. It completely nukes their “electability” line which is all they have left
Explain to me the AIPAC/Mr. Stevens endgame here? If Rogers wins and is god forbid the 49/50th vote for ICE camps & who knows what else they will be blamed! It will reduce their power in the Dem party even more. If Abdul wins anyway (which I expect) then they reveal themselves to be whining losers w no influence. It’s just one big temper tantrum that is serving to undermine their stated goals. Crazy.

AIPAC knows Dem support for Israel at 13% makes it less popular among Dem voters than prayer in school, full abortion bans and belief in young earth creationism. Yet Dem leaders continue to embrace/cash checks from AIPAC. This contradiction must be maintained w/ extreme measures

The people of France are back on the streets in another historic mobilization.
Alice from L’Union Etudiante spoke to BT about what the media is getting wrong, calling it “proof of the racist and infantilizing representation of the [Paris] suburbs by the state and the government.”

Banning academic and author Andreas Malm from entering Britain to stop him from speaking alongside myself, a Palestine Action co-founder, is another disgusting attack on free speech as a result of the draconian ban.
The ban must be overturned.

Great news.
We've been organizing tenants across Vivmark Residential — the largest corporate landlord in the nation.
Now, more fire is catching. Lawyers just filed a giant class action lawsuit against them for imposing junk fees we *know* are illegal.

This is, once again, why any "socialist" who refuses to address defunding the state forces of repression isn't being "pragmatic" but short-sighted to the extreme. If you actually have a socialist vision for society, the jackboots in blue will crush it with their fascist friends.
🇫🇷 Riot police in Montpellier, France, appear to have cooperated with far-right militants who attacked protesters at a banned march on Oct. 24, according to investigations by franceinfo and Libération based on verified images and witness accounts.
Protests over school conditions and living costs have swept France since mid-September, drawing 410,000 people on Oct. 24, per the Interior Ministry. In Montpellier, a self-styled militia organized on Telegram boasted of "good cooperation with the police," local outlet Le Poing reported. Members beat protesters alongside officers and handed a young man to police, who was later given a six-month suspended sentence for throwing a stone that hit no one, according to Le Poing.
Montpellier Mayor Michaël Delafosse called it unacceptable for people to form a militia and openly boast about it, and said he would refer the matter to prosecutors. Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez, whose government denies any collusion, said the groups could be prosecuted.
