Winter Training is starting up for High School Football! The absolute WORST thing you can do is crush your kids week 1 with insanely high volume and insanely high intensity. Instead… Spend ALL of December or January laying the foundation for your training program. ▪️TEACH the new kids ▪️REVIEW with the upperclassmen ❌ 4-5 Days/Week ✅ 2-3 Days/Week ❌ 8-10 Exercises per session ✅ 5-6 Exercises per session ❌ Hang Clean - 4 sets of 8 ✅ TEACH THE F**** HANG CLEAN. Just teach it. Use a stick. That’s literally it! And if you can’t teach it, don’t use it… or just learn how to teach it. ❌ Barbell Squat - 4 Sets of 8 ✅ Goblet Squat - 2 Sets of 6 with a pause at the bottom ❌ Max Out Day 1 to “see where we are.” ✅ Pick a comfortable yet somewhat challenging weight to see where we are. (You’d be surprised at how little weight they really need right now) Spending time every year laying the foundation in your program is the equivalent of compounding interest in investments. If you want to truly develop your athletes, this is the way.
