おじさんの最初のひとことが、あんなにやさしい招待だったなんて…😭😭😭！
動画の字幕では、撮影した人が保護施設を見ていたら、「何を見てるんだ、あっちへ行け！」と怒鳴られたと思ったそうです。でもおじさんは振り返って、「見るなら、中へ入ってきなさい」。敷地に入ると、そこには2000匹の保護犬と、100匹以上の猫がいた、とのことでした。
「苦しんでいるのを見捨てられず、気づけば増えていたんだ」。毎日数百キロのフードが消えて、おじさんは貯金を使い果たし、マンションを二つ売って、借金まで背負って、32年。しかも7年前に胃がんを宣告されている、と字幕は伝えていました。さらに、奥さんは救助の途中で二階から落ちて、今も寝たきり。それでも奥さんは「後悔なんてしていないわ、たくさんの命を救えたのだから」と話すそうです。
私が一番ぐっときたのは、おじさんが「やさしい人だから続けている」んじゃなくて、「見捨てられなかったから、気づいたらこうなった」って言っているところ。大きな決意より、目の前の「放っておけない」の積み重ねのほうが、人をずっと遠くまで運ぶんだなって。私も、散らかった部屋の片づけを「あとで」って放っておくのと、真逆のことをしているなあと、反省しました(スケールは桁違いですが)。字幕の最後にあった「私にも、何かできることがあるはずだ」に、私も背中を押された気がします。

Mother and daughter wanted after kicking a tiny dog, with one of them armed with a 🔫.
The suspects have been identified as Lagashia Williams and Graciela Amar of Pittsburg, California.
Gigi, a 10-year-old dog weighing less than 3 pounds, suffered liver and leg injuries after being kicked. She continues to experience neck pain, likely due to a damaged disc.
The incident began after a neighbor’s car backed into plants on Lopes’ property. The woman told her daughter to kick the dog, and the daughter then retrieved a 🔫 from their car, prompting Lopes to call police.
