Facts: Bangladeshi migrant worker Nazrul Islam (a cleaner in Mecca) and Sweety Akter were executed on 14 October 2026 in Saudi Arabia for committing immoral acts inside a mosque. They were not a newly married couple on Umrah, as many posts claimed. Nazrul’s family has confirmed he was unmarried and that they did not know Sweety. They were arrested in August 2023, held for over three years, and the case went through trial (with interpreters present); the court found the charges proven and the death sentence under Tazir was upheld on appeal.
