A lot to like from the Suns so far, despite the result. Rough shooting night from Book, but you like how intentional he is looking for his threes. Kennard also has real playmaking feel, which has an opportunity to shine with this team. Seeing more ball pressure, too, as expected
Great stuff happens with these Devin Booker and Oso Ighodaro pick-and-rolls.
Most important thing is really connecting on the screen, which Oso does every time. Watch his timely short-roll read to the corner:
Really nice to see Jalen Green healthy and explosive. Been talking about how much faster and more electric this team will be in transition
Jordan Goodwin might just wrap up another Majerle Hustle Award by Christmas if he keeps this up. The effort is admirable. Three offensive boards and one steal in less than four minutes.
Miles Bridges with his first bucket as a Phoenix Sun, a putback slam. Already creating extra possessions
Just catching up on Dream-Liberty today. That’s why you bring DeWanna Bonner to your team. As cliché as it sounds, she’s just always ready for the moment. Had the same impact for last year’s Mercury during their Finals run. Happy to see her thriving and showing she still has it
"You want to use your depth, especially when healthy. We have great wing depth. I think we've added to it with some young guys."
Jordan Ott says the Suns will try to go 9 or 10 deep to begin the season. Will be important as they ramp up the defensive intensity even more.
Luke Kennard says he’s been working with Devin Booker and Collin Gillespie, being a good screener for them when they have the ball, knowing how many options it can create.
Says he’s learned a lot from watching and playing against Steph Curry and how he causes havoc by screening
"I've heard great things about the fans here. Especially after last night. Just how into it they were, the amount of people, and how excited they are about Suns basketball. It's very special."
Luke Kennard is already feeling the love from the Suns' passionate fanbase
Talking with Luke Kennard about his off-the-dribble game, since he shot 56% on his drives last season
"It's something I work on every day now. Over the last few years of being one of the knockdown shooters, you gotta add something else when teams are taking that away."
Jordan Goodwin on training camp:
"We got a good group of guys, all locked in off the court, which makes it easy on the court. It's been real physical in here. But for the most part, it's been fun."
He also talked about the "tag rate" leaderboard, which shows how often each player tagged up for an offensive rebound. You don't want to be near the bottom, or you'll get called out:
Rasheer Fleming is the latest Suns player to rave about Khaman Maluach’s vocal presence on the floor
“He’s so young, but he’s such a vocal player. That’s an important piece that’s going to keep him in that leadership type of role.”
“I love it. Love having Suns fans come here and support. They always bring great energy and great atmosphere when they’re here.”
Rasheer Fleming on tonight’s Fan Fest, and how much the team benefits from the crowd during the season:
“The fans really welcomed me when I came here as an 18-year-old from Duke. They believe in me. They are trusting the process with me, so it’s been great. Thanks to the Suns fans out there.”
Khaman Maluach feels nothing but gratitude for all of the fan support in Phoenix
