I couldn’t quite digest that final scene, so I decided to write about it and get it out of my system. Of course, we know what’s driving Cihan. He doesn’t want to lose his family. And apparently, by the time he walked out of that room, he had also learned that Alya was never married. Emboldened by that information, he declares, “You’re going to give me Cihan!” I sincerely hope that final scene was simply meant to give the audience an electric shock, and that we’ll see a somewhat corrected version of it in the next episode. Because I really can’t accept it otherwise.💆🏻‍♀️ I could have accepted something along the lines of, “Cihan is my son. Let me register him as mine. Let me be his father.” But “Give me Cihan”? No! That causes an allergic reaction in my entire system. Then I start thinking… Surely Cihan’s real intention cannot be to push Alya even further away from him. So what exactly is he trying to achieve? I think Cihan, much as I dislike his methods, is trying to take a shortcut to get Alya to open up. Almost as if he wants to drain the poison out of her. He wants her to release all that fear, anger and mistrust she’s been carrying, to force her into a confrontation she can no longer avoid. And I actually think he’s doing it deliberately. Because Alya already loves this man. She doesn’t want to leave. But there are still barriers within her that prevent her from allowing herself to stay. And perhaps Cihan knows that. he isn’t trying to make Alya fall in love with him again, but rather to bring her to a point where she can no longer deny the love that’s already there. And then there’s something Cihan doesn’t know: Alya is pregnant. So while he’s desperately looking for ways to make her stay, another life is already growing inside her, tying her to this family in a way he hasn’t even begun to imagine.❤️‍🩹 In the trailer for the next episode, we see a calmer Alya, one who seems to have accepted the situation. And this is where I find myself struggling. Is that calmness a sign of surrender, or has Alya finally worked something out within herself? I really want to believe it’s the latter. Because Alya’s struggle is no longer about whether she loves Cihan. It’s about how she can stay with the man she loves without losing herself, her autonomy or her place as a mother. I can entertain the idea that Cihan is trying to draw the poison out of Alya. I can even believe that this is a calculated move on his part. But what I find difficult to accept is the possibility that, in trying to remove that poison, he may be hurting her again. And more than anything, this is what I want: If Alya stays, let it be not because Cihan has backed her into a corner, but because she chooses to stay of her own free will. #UzakŞehir #CihAl

This scene is such a perfect example of two people who simply don’t know how to communicate… Of course, we can’t expect healthy communication between two people who still have so much unresolved history between them. But you’d think they could at least be a little better at finding the right words, at knowing how to begin… They’re both being eaten alive by everything they’re holding inside. We can see it. Alya has always been like this. She could never keep her feelings to herself; she always had to voice them. But whenever she did, she used her words as weapons. Cihan, on the other hand, is a man who has no words. He only knows how to speak through his actions. And when you put these two people together, with all their unresolved issues constantly running in the background, it becomes almost impossible for either of them to express what they truly mean or understand what the other is actually saying. And that’s exactly what happens. Because Alya can’t say, “You’re sacrificing yourself again. You’re letting the weight of your obligations crush you all over again,” she resorts to sharp, hurtful words instead. And because Cihan can’t say, “I’m lost without you. Take my hand, don’t let go of me. Help me back up from where I’ve fallen,” he shuts everything down with, “You were always good at leaving. I thought you’d be the one to break this cycle. No more love, no more loss.” They’re both saying something entirely different from what they actually mean, and hearing something entirely different from what the other is trying to say. And perhaps that’s the most heartbreaking part of it all: At the very moment they need each other the most, they become the people who hurt each other the deepest. For them to find a way out of this, they first need to stop fighting each other. Because the truth is, neither of them is really fighting the other. They’re both fighting their own fears. But they keep directing all the anger, hurt, and helplessness those fears create at each other. Because the way forward for this relationship isn’t about one of them saving the other. It’s about both of them learning to be vulnerable enough to reach for each other’s hand. #UzakŞehir #CihAl
