No Kimi Antonelli at the track in Mexico City today
Mercedes says he is recovering from a viral illness:
“As a precaution, the FIA have excused him from his mandatory media duties to give him the chance to rest head of the weekend. We expect him to be back tomorrow” #F1

🏁 FINAL THOUGHTS ON THE FINAL FIX | Baku 🇦🇿
If you're one of the few NOT on Antonelli 2X, this one's for you.
TL;DR: I'm Final Fixing Russell → Antonelli. Not because Russell will have a bad race, but because a Russell race can't score enough, and the swap locks in everything you've already banked.
📍 WHERE WE ARE
Russell took pole by 0.837s. Antonelli clipped the wall in Q1 and starts P16. If Antonelli starts from the pitlane, this is not even a debate.
Russell 2X managers banked 20 quali points (10 × 2). Antonelli 2X managers banked 0.
About 76% of the global top 500 are on Antonelli 2X and a WHOPPING 96% own Antonelli.
🔧 THE KEY MECHANIC
Final Fix keeps Russell's quali points, and your 2X carries over. So the only question is: whose RACE is worth more?
🧮 RACE MATHS (fantasy points)
Russell from pole can't gain places. A clean win = 25 before fastest lap or DOTD. Across simulations (he doesn't win every time) he averages about 20–22 (dnf risk built in).
Antonelli from P16 (places gained + overtakes stack up fast):
P2 ≈ 44 | P3 ≈ 39 | P4 ≈ 34 | P5 ≈ 30
Break-even vs a Russell win: Antonelli P4–P5.
The market has him on the podium 55% of the time and winning 12%.
📊 EXPECTED VALUE (conservative: fastest lap & DOTD removed for both)
Keep Russell → 2X slot ≈ 60
Swap to Antonelli → 2X slot ≈ 71–79
That's +10 to +19 for the swap before any extras.
Add his fastest-lap habit (7 in 14 races this season) and DOTD potential, and the gap grows quickly.
⚠️ THE RISK
DNF from P16 ≈ 13% (lap-1 traffic, rebuilt front corner).
For holding Russell to be the better call, Antonelli would need about a 40% DNF chance. Not close.
👥 THE LEAGUE ANGLE (the real reason)
vs Antonelli 2X managers (most of the field):
• Hold Russell → you're betting against them. They claw back your 20 unless Antonelli retires (about 1 in 8). You keep the lead only about half the time, or less.
• Swap → your 2X race = their 2X race. Your +20 is LOCKED. So again Antonelli 2Xers, you win almost every time. The rest of the team is mostly Meta for everyone.
Teams that have both Russell and Antonelli with 2X on ANT, it's more of a coin toss for you but FF gives you a chance.
✅ THE CALL
Swap Russell → Antonelli. Keep the 2X.
Holding Russell isn't the safe option. It's the bet.
The Final Fix turns a 20-point quali gain into a locked lead over the field, plus upside over everyone who can't swap.
Good luck 🏎️

Two grid penalties post-qualifying:
Sainz - 5 places - Failure to slow for yellow flags
Perez - 3 places - Impeding (Piastri)
Drops Sainz from P9 to P14, and Perez from P20 to... I think P20 due to Aston Martin PU penalties

This (translated) article heavily suggests that Charles Leclerc will take a grid penalty in Azerbaijan.
If that’s the case, it looks like we will be back with Ferrari in Baku for F1 Fantasy 🤷

Looks like F1 has removed the 'Gaming' menu from the top banner. That's where you could easily find F1 Fantasy from the main page.
It's now moved several sections down, next to betting, store, and tickets. 🙄

The fundamental (and least discussed) flaw of the current budget system. Constructors basically don't stop increasing in price unless they suffer double DNFs on a regular basis.
How their increases are calculated the same as drivers is still a mystery to me

Here’s my take on the latest appeal of Gasly’s P3 in Monaco:
I don’t see a way for the FIA to proceed until everyone is in person, at the earliest this would be next Thursday.
F1 Fantasy can’t possibly lock the game through Thursday of a race week.
The most likely outcome in my mind is:
1. They adjust scores for Monaco based on the current classification (Gasly P3).
2. Scores from Barcelona are finalized so we can set lineups for Austria.
3. Any successful appeals would trigger further retroactive score changes after Austria.
With this much confusion on the table, I don’t see how they could possibly give Gasly the $0.8M he was shorted in Monaco if they can potentially take it all back in a few weeks.
Will I be right? If history tells us anything the logical answer isn’t always what we end up with.
