I don’t think you have a dog in this fight but if you did you would have shot it.
I’ll take @ellalangleymsic over Kacey Musgraves any day. And if I’m choosin’ Texas, I’ll take Ken Paxton over James Talarico.

Maybe a follow-up article to scrutinize this massive ed cartel? @RobertTGarrett @dallasnews dallasnews.com/news/educatio… “But some are concerned about his motives, suspecting Williams must be making money from Commit's influence. It's not uncommon for critics to express concern at local board meetings about Commit's involvement in schools. She mostly likes what she hears but is among those reluctant to trust any input from Williams. She's worried that Commit may be swaying community groups. "I'm in Roosevelt every day, and I see that our kids are not getting the best education that they can," she said. "Then this organization over here is getting bigger and bigger? You have over 200 partners? I just see it as being a hostile takeover of education." (2019)

Welfare for wealthy private school parents. We told you.
Texas School Voucher Reality: Sold as a life preserver for poor students, new application data is showing that the majority applying for vouchers are already in private schools. And just 12% of applicants fall into into priority categories for disabled students, or under $165,000/yr for family of four. #TxLege #TxEd

Retaliatory hemp raids taking place today by Texas DSHS across the state. Spurred by someone from Citizens for a Safe and Healthy Texas, who is funded by TX HHS. They just happen to be “inspecting” everyone who testified at the house committee hearing. Video tomorrow.

So let me get this straight—Texas DSHS is now weaponizing “inspections” against every single person who dared testify at the Capitol? That’s not enforcement, that’s state-sponsored retaliation. First Amendment violations all over this. 👀 Someone needs to remind them they work for the people, not “Citizens for a Safe & Healthy Texas.

Democrats blaming the Texas Senate for sneaking in public school funding cuts at the last minute are carefully omitting the folks Senate leadership has been negotiating with about it. Yes, I noticed that #TxLege

This AM we sent a letter to TEA requesting a formal STAAR opt-out procedure. In the middle of a public health crisis, the last thing anyone should have to worry about is in-person testing. Although we encourage them to endeavor to cancel the exam, we need to be ready. #txlege

I filed HB1246 to fund schools based on enrollment not attendance because: Schools w/high concentrations of poverty struggle most w/attendance often because of housing & transportation challenges. Schools should not be penalized for serving kids in poverty.
Replying to @TexasStandard
Texas still bases public school funding on student attendance. But after a school year of shifting attendance due to COVID-19, some lawmakers say it’s time to change the formula. We’ll hear from @ginaforaustin.

It is 3:40am and the Joint Session of Congress just certified the election of @JoeBiden and @KamalaHarris as our next President and Vice-President. The job is done. We did what we came here to do, and most importantly, we were not deterred.

If you're leading teams today, maybe consider easing up on deadlines and work today and give people space to process witnessing really disturbing events in real time. Caring for each other today is a good thing to do and good leadership.

Please stop supporting that we need to administer the STAAR test as a “benchmark” this year. How can we advocate that the STAAR is a terribly flawed test with valid above grade level readability issues, & then say it would be a good benchmark? #txlege #TxEd
