I married the man who once told me I was the only woman he could never betray. Three years later, I discovered he had been secretly paying another womanβs rent.
When I confronted him, he broke down crying.
βPlease, Olivia. She has nowhere else to go. I made a mistake, but I still love you.β
I wanted to believe him. I remembered the nights he stayed beside me when I lost my job, the meals we shared when money was tight, and the promises he made when we had nothing.
So I gave him one last chance.
Two months later, I found a hospital receipt hidden inside his jacket. The patientβs name was a woman I had never heard of. The appointment date was the same day he told me he was attending a business meeting.
My hands trembled as I called the hospital.
The woman was pregnant.
When my husband came home, I placed the receipt on the table.
He stared at it, then whispered, βI was going to tell you.β
I packed my bags that night and left without another word.

The multiverse creates a strange problem for Spider-Man.
If another version of Peter Parker exists in a different universe, does that make his own sacrifices any less meaningful?
I do not think so, but Marvel has to be careful about how it uses alternate versions of the same character.
The appeal of Peter Parker has always been that his choices have consequences. He cannot simply replace a lost relationship with another version of the person he loved or escape every mistake by entering another universe.
A multiverse should challenge his understanding of responsibility, not become an easy way to erase it.

At the start of this semester, the university bookstore billed me $210 for a textbook I never returned. The notice said my account would be put on hold, which would block me from registering for classes. I'd dropped that book in the return bin in May and watched the staff scan it. I went to the bookstore office and brought one thing on my phoneβ¦
