We don't have a state monopoly now, but the danger is that a well-intentioned desire to prevent abuse and neglect inadvertently outlaws innovative alternative schools.
The state goes much further than registering who is responsible.
"Unregistered" schools are not inherently bad. We need a vision for how religious & other indoctrination can be kept in check without giving the state a monopoly on education.
The biggest threat to the upcoming education revolution is.... government legislation!
Germany has banned home schooling. Education reformers need to make sure this never happens in UK & US.

Parents went along with foot-binding because they thought it was necessary to secure their daughters' futures.
Now we know the pain & cruelty was unjustified.
But we still think of childhood as a time to sacrifice for the future.

This is a big threat to home-ed families and learning communities, who risk being babies thrown out with the bathwater.
