I am a Declaration American:
To me, America consists mainly in the idea of individual liberty and found its most compelling political expression in the Declaration of Independence.
The Constitution was a counter-Revolutionary act, and Lysander Spooner was right.
Firefly FFDB is up in the house with the Peg, and hangin' with the Big Kids.
Just arrived today. Slight neck back-bow, and the truss rod made short work of it. Minor bridge adjustment and we were off for about two hours of listening and dialing. (I'm a classic rock kinda guy: Aerosmith to Zappa.)
I think it's sublimely delicious. I like a big grippy neck and this qualifies. Bell-clear notes from bottom to top, strong unplugged body resonance with sustained bends.
It is certainly neck-heavy; it'll swoon if I let it. That could could be solved, I think, with a strap of the right texture. Everything I have in my kit falls a bit short of it, but a couple aren't bad, and: I actually don't mind resting my right arm on that bass horn to counter-weight the neck. That's just me.
I'll have to get used to that switch position, because nothing else I have is a reach in that direction. It's a good switch, though, and it'll survive my initial clumsies.
The knob cluster is *close* and tight. Just like on the Gibson Firebird V, the output jack plug sort of gets in the way of the bridge pickup tone knob. It'll take me a minute to get the hang of that.
They do a great job with the Alnico 5 pickups, which are doing everything I expect them to. I might raise the bridge pickup a hair, but it hasn't seriously occurred to me, tonight.
At 7.39 lbs., I love the way it hangs.
When I play these guitars, I'm not making excuses for the price: I don't even think about it. I do it just like I do with all the rest and always have with every one I've ever owned in the past fifty years.
When I sit down with a cigarette and look at the wall, though, I realize what an amazing time to be alive it really is.

"The further one got from the military sector, the worse economic performance became."
(Martin Malia -- "The Soviet Tragedy", 1994, p. 335)
Martin Malia on Soviet economies: "Contrary to the declared goals of the regime, it was the opposite of a system of production to create abundance for the eventual satisfaction of the needs of the population; it was a system of general squeeze of the population to produce capital goods for the creation of industrial power, in order to produce ever more capital goods with which to produce still further industrial might, and ultimately to produce armaments."

🇺🇸 HOLY SHIT! Joe Rogan says he quietly spent HIS OWN MONEY flying private nurses to strangers during the pandemic 🤯
After publicly sharing his COVID treatment, he began getting requests from friends and strangers.
He opened an account, lost track of the number, and kept sending nurses to help.
He said the recipients included actors, comics, and people who reached out on Instagram. Some received monoclonal antibodies, and he never calculated how much he spent.
That was the opposite of the Fauci era: instead of telling people what they couldn’t do, he paid for the treatment himself and sent help to their doors.

(Scenes I'd Like To See)
I was in a two-ship ferry flight, taking a C172 to another field for maintenance. Close-form all the way down there. I was in the Citabria.
I let that guy in the 172 lead me into a downwind landing. Like an idiot, I just followed him around the pattern.
I got it reined-in after bouncing along for about 1500 feet, with people all over the field standing in the doors, watching.
That would never happen again.
One of my scariest moments in the Vision Jet was shortly after I bought it. I had less than 50 hours in it. Thanksgiving at Sedona, winds favoring runway 21. No published approach, a steep arrival over obstacles, and cliffs on every side. Pilots call it an aircraft carrier. Family on board.
I hadn't done enough research on how to land 21. I went around once, came back, pushed too hard on the brakes, thought I was going off the end, and blew a tire. We stopped on the runway, the airport closed behind us, and a Global 6000 had to go around. A real disaster could have happened. Thankfully, we were okay. Cirrus drove two hours from Scottsdale and got us flying again the next day.
I've been a lot more cautious ever since. Before an unfamiliar airport now I look for approach videos online, ask other pilots who've done it, and even fly it in Microsoft Flight Simulator. Anything that builds familiarity before the real thing. The biggest lesson is, if you are not comfortable sticking the landing, don't do it in the first place. What's a landing that changed how you fly? #aviation #VisionJet #avgeek
9/11 didn't "destroy the United States," Matt.
Does that mean that you would be willing to tolerate a truck-bomb nuke on a ship tied up to a warf in New York or San Diego?
If you think Iran has or ever had or ever will have the power to destroy the US and make it so that "we don't have a country at all" then you are flat out delusional. We may indeed see our country destroyed but it will be because the communists took over from within. And these retarded foreign wars will be a big part of the reason for that.

Heard this term “coffin corner” from pilots as a possible contributing factor to the Learjet 60 crash.
This is the best explanation of what it is and why descending rather than climbing is the way out.
The coffin corner is a dangerous band high up in the sky where a plane’s “too slow” limit and “too fast” limit get so close together that the safe window narrows to almost nothing.
If anything pushes the plane a little too slow or a little too fast (a bit of turbulence, a turn, or even trying to climb), it can easily slip outside that tiny safe band and fall out of the sky.
That’s why it’s called the coffin corner - there’s almost no room for error, and losing control up there is extremely dangerous.

“There is, according to Dewey, no such thing as an autonomous individual: a man’s intelligence, he holds, is fundamentally conditioned by the collective thinking of other men; the mind is not a ‘private’ phenomenon, it is a social phenomenon. In this view, the pragmatist ‘reconstructor’ of reality is not the individual but society. Pragmatic truth, accordingly, is that which works for the group. Truth, like thought, is ‘public’ ; it is those hypotheses which facilitate the actions and purposes of the community at large.”
- Leonard Peikoff, The Ominous Parallels
Think about how rotten that kind of thinking is. It is from there we get simpleton quips like “No man is an island unto himself.” You are simply a cog in a social machine with a duty to bend to the will of the majority (“Our Democracy”). And it is exactly this pragmatism, combined with social constructivism & moral relativism that we end up in the mess we are in today.
I cannot even adequately express how much I despise John Dewey.
Rousseau, Hegel, Marx, Dewey; putrid ghosts that won’t stop haunting us.
It's not that they bombed Iran. It's that they went at it like that foolish old woman, Lyndon Johnson, went at Vietnam.
The Gulag Archipelago, Vol. I, p. 267:
"...we were all astonished at what was happening to us, while nothing around him contradicted his expectations..."

Dear pedestritards,
There may well be a “crosswalk where you bear no responsibility for your own actions” in the middle of every 10 feet of road in the “city” of #Montpellier where you can practice your carelessness easily. But UNDERSTAND THIS actual Fact: If the oncoming traffic that you are directly walking into the crosswalk immediately behind is a giant truck then the person in the opposing lane WILL NOT SEE YOU UNTIL YOU ARE IN FRONT OF THEIR VEHICLE.
You fcking idiots. I was going 19MPH max when this happens and 3 people appear directly after the truck that passed by my in the oncoming lane - nearby mouthy retardant who was walking outside the crosswalk toward me told me I was going too fast. I called him names.
For fcks sake your human instincts are weaker than any other human era people, it’s not up to other people to make sure you survive.
My thinking on the Lear 60 crash begins with the elemental question of why that crew flew into that storm. That's why I think that it will eventually score as crew error.
Once they were in it, though, Nathalia Filgueiras' fidelity to her training was obvious to me. It sticks in mind that she kept calling out her jet's tail number, to the end. That sort of grip on one's own mind in a moment like that is the opposite of hysteria. She was deliberately and consciously trying to keep doing her job.
That is eminently honorable.
Been stuck in Learjet crash 𝕏 for days and had to put the phone down.
That copilot did the best she could in a fatal situation she didn't create. She kept communicating while every instrument told her impact was coming. Not perfectly composed, sure, but I don't know many people, male or female, who could do that.
She should be held up as a model, not picked apart in the comments.
