Coach Irvin 🌵

I have known Ben Arbuckle since he was my sons best friend as a five year old in Elgin, Tx. He is no doubt disappointed with how things turned out in Oklahoma. Ben will no doubt not only get better from this adversity but will become a stronger man as well. In this he will learn who his real fans and real friends truly are and will no doubt make a positive difference in young men and a football program somewhere soon! Love you Ben and love your family! 💥🤛🏻 Somewhere along the way, we have forgotten that football is a game, not a license to destroy another person’s dignity. In these situations firings happen but the level of social battering is sickening by fans who likely know very little about what they are talking about other than they are pissed about a result of a game. The passion, loyalty, and pride we have for our teams are what make college football special. But when that passion turns into personal attacks, hateful comments, and the relentless slaughtering of coaches, players, and families on social media, we have lost sight of what really matters. Behind every coach is a human being. Behind every player is a young person trying to grow, learn, and succeed. Behind every loss is someone who hurts far more than any keyboard warrior could ever understand. You can criticize a performance without destroying a person. You can disagree without being cruel. You can love your team without hating someone else’s. Winning football games is temporary. Character, compassion, and how we treat people are lasting. If your team’s success requires you to celebrate another person’s humiliation, perhaps it is time to reevaluate what being a fan really means. Let’s bring some humanity back to college football. Be passionate about the game. Be respectful of the people. And never forget that football is supposed to bring us together, not make us forget how to treat one another.
