A new special regulation district in central SV that will have the most accelerated code in the US for robotics and physical innovation. Pending admin approval.
New op-ed I wrote for Pirate Wires about @_FrontierValley - Making the case for why Silicon Valley needs a federal special regulation district, and how to make this actually happen in the next 6 months.
NEW IN PIRATE WIRES: The Abandoned Naval Base That Could Win Us the AI War
America is sleepwalking through the greatest national security crisis of our time, but there’s a solution... if we’re bold enough to make it happen.
Robots that rival humans in intellectual and physical dexterity will probably scale within the next decade. Waymo is growing. Tesla Optimus estimates it’s 5 to 10 years from obviating repetitive human labor. Whoever wins this race will win everything, and will fundamentally reshape the future.
But right now? America’s getting crushed by bureaucracy. OSHA compliance approval for robotics applications takes * 6 to 12 months * in America. In China, it takes days. We’ll never win at this pace.
One fix: designate a federal special regulation district, a sandbox for manufacturing on American soil. It’s not a new idea, but it hasn’t come to fruition yet... because we haven’t found the right spot.
Today for Pirate Wires, @JRIngallinera proposes turning Alameda Point, an empty ex-Naval Air Base across the bay from SF, into the Shenzhen of American robotics manufacturing. All it would take is a single executive order.
China wouldn’t hesitate. Why should we? Link threaded. 👇
