UCP first two years 2019-20: −$12.2B 2020-21: −$17.0B ~$29.1B in deficits before any surplus appeared. Then the oil-price years: 2021-22: +$3.9B 2022-23: +$11.5B 2023-24: +$4.3B 2024-25: +$8.3B That’s four completed surplus years, not six. The “sixth consecutive” count includes: · 2025-26 — not audited yet; government now expects a surplus after earlier deficit forecasts · 2026-27 — Budget 2026 tabled a $9.4B deficit. The Q1 update flipped it to a $2B surplus after resource revenue jumped ~$9.7B when oil spiked with the Iran war. Heritage Fund “$35B by 2027” is a target. Fund was ~$31.9B at end of 2025.
