From the moment he asked to respond in English because he wants to be clear about certain things. Not a man finding buzzwords. He used previous examples. He never aligned with Vinicius’ character. He never shaded Mourinho’s character. It was the action he fully focused on. And was even gracious to Prestianni. He mentioned Mbappe’s love for diplomacy in most situations but he was clear about what he heard. That’s knowledge of people and patterns. It’s been a while I’ve listened to any leader speak with absolute wisdom. He said there should be a place for apologies and it doesn’t have to be kill or be killed. There should be a middle ground but he was clear about what he disliked — the lack of leadership Jose Mourinho showed. That was courageous. You can tell why he was captain of club and country and is now a coach of one of the biggest clubs on earth as a black man. Absolute respect.
