And just like that, the game I’ve loved for so many years has come to an end. We fought our way to the second round of the playoffs, but unfortunately, our season ended with a loss. Not the ending we wanted, but a journey I wouldn’t trade for nothing! Even being out with an injury for most of the season.
It’s hard knowing there will be no more Friday night lights, no more running through the tunnel, no more pregame speeches, and no more stepping on the field with the brothers I shared memories with.
Football gave me more than just a game. It gave me lifelong friendships, unforgettable memories, discipline, strength, and lessons that I’ll carry with me forever. Being able to wear this jersey #5 one last season and lead as a captain has been one of the greatest honors of my life.
I wish I could go back and do it all one more time. Every practice, every game, every win, every loss.
To my coaches, teammates, family, and everyone who believed in me and supported me along the way, THANK YOU! ❤️
We may not have finished the way we dreamed, but we left everything we had on that field. It’s still Mac over everybody Ⓜ️

Generals respond. Kam Stokes makes a tough grab on 4th-and-6, and Damonte Phillips scores on a 29-yard run the next play.

That’s one way to come out of the break. Antonio Young finds Phillips on a slant for a 72-yard touchdown on the first play of the half.

So nice he did it twice. Back-to-back pick-sixes for Phillips, this one an 82-yarder.

That’s a huge momentum flip. A 91-yard pick-six by Damonte Phillips on an Effingham 4th-and-goal helps MacArthur double its lead.

Talent is supple at the receiver position this year. @ZekeYoung125864, @BondsBrennon and @_Monte02_ are a few standouts.

2027 5’11 Decatur MacArthur PG Monte Phillips sticks in passing lanes and glues for heavy on ball pressure during trap setting. Pesky defender. Speeds O up in primary phase or in press breaker. Plus energy as team’s floor general.
