It’s easy to think this guy is 'weak' until you understand that he is wanted by the EFCC. They could not get Wike due to immunity and then came after him. He is not a career politician and was not supposed to be the governor. Turning him into a politician and making him the governor was the only way Wike could protect himself since he was the one helping Wike to steal money. They had a simple agreement, but as they say, power corrupts. Sim became governor and decided to become a mafia boss. A former civil servant who could not even address voters at political rallies thought he could also become a godfather. This is why I find it funny when people say he was being oppressed. He and Wike are criminals who were fighting for themselves. Allowing him to complete his term was very gracious and the only reason is because having him in the dock for any reason also implicates Wike. The new agreement is to complete his term, never ever go near any political office in his life and EFCC won’t need to invite him as long as he keeps his own side of the bargain. If you were in his shoes, you’ll do the same thing. In fact you won’t even believe your luck that you got such a good deal after a failed attempt at rebellion.
