this is exactly why PRRD institutionalized MALASAKIT CENTERS located within the hospitals all over the country so that patients or their families in need of financial assistance don't have to do this. bumalik tayo sa panahon ni PNoy, nakakatuwa naman.

Imelda Marcos left 3,000 pairs of shoes in the palace. Then she told the camera: "We don't have money." Honolulu, 1986. The family has just fled the Philippines. How much money do the Marcoses have? "We don't have money. We have never been as deprived in our lives." And the 10 to 15 Swiss bank accounts? "I wish it was true… not that I know." The reporter reads a list from 1983. 90 days. $7 million. A $100,000 necklace. $560,000 in antiques. A $208,000 bracelet. Her answer: a lady friend with the country's biggest department store was "shopping for me." The shoes, she says, belonged to her daughters, maids and nurses. All size 8.5. Her size. "A year ago I used to be size 7." The family was accused of taking $5 billion to $10 billion. Switzerland returned about $680 million. In 2018, a court convicted her on 7 counts of graft. 42 to 77 years. She stayed free on bail and never went to prison. In 2022, her son became President of the Philippines. On the shoes, she had one more line. "I'm sure I don't have 3,000 pairs."

Australia says China is carrying out “the biggest conventional military buildup since World War II.” Beijing’s answer is simple: Yes, China is building the military strength necessary to defend its sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity. That is what happens when a civilization remembers what weakness cost it. If China had possessed overwhelming military strength in the 1930s, Asia would not have been burned across by Japanese fascism while foreign powers stood by, calculated, bargained, and watched. And the irony of Australia lecturing China about military power is almost too perfect. A settler state born through colonial conquest now treats an Asian country’s ability to defend itself as inherently suspicious—while hosting expanding U.S. forces, nuclear-submarine deployments, and an alliance architecture aimed squarely at China. So when Beijing says: “stop making irresponsible remarks,” the message is not difficult to understand. China will not apologize for being strong enough to prevent history from happening to it again.

PhilHealth may be forced to tap nearly P200 billion from its reserve fund in 2027 if Congress fails to approve its requested P244-billion subsidy, according to acting president and CEO Dr. Beverly Lorraine Ho. With only P74.45 billion allocated under the proposed national budget, Ho warned that the agency's reserves, which now cover just eight months of benefit payments, could face further pressure as PhilHealth works to sustain healthcare benefits. Real leaders protect innocent lives, not political agendas. Stop burning out the goof hardworking citizens who carry this nation just to stay politically correct. Do the job, protect the good people, and clear out the the bad people.

Marcos Jr. and the Dutertes rode UniTeam to a landslide in 2022. Then he turned on them. Once the alliance no longer served him, he opened the door to the same yellow and pink forces that had spent years calling both families thieves—and now they’re all eating their own vomit together. The flood-control and budget scandals aren’t some outsider exposé. Zaldy Co, the man who ran the insertions under Romualdez and the Palace, said it outright: Marcos and Romualdez ordered roughly ₱100 billion in insertions (mostly flood control) and took the kickbacks. Unprogrammed funds ballooned so the executive could play with the money after the budget was passed. The Supreme Court later struck down major portions of the 2024 and 2025 budgets as unconstitutional. That is the administration’s own architecture, not a Duterte invention. While that was happening, billions were pulled from PhilHealth and shoved into those same unprogrammed pots. Health contributions meant for members were raided to fund discretionary infrastructure that produced ghost projects and substandard dikes. Critics called it unconstitutional. The people who needed the money for medicine and hospitals got the bill instead. And what did the yellow-pink-Marcos alliance do with the outrage? They aimed it at the Dutertes. Sara’s confidential funds—approved and released under the same government—became an impeachment spectacle the moment she refused to stay in line. Rodrigo Duterte was arrested and shipped to The Hague right when the political rupture peaked. The institutions, the leaks, the media cycles, and the international case all lined up against the family that had actually delivered results on drugs and infrastructure, while the people who wrote the insertions and diverted the PhilHealth money faced softer treatment. This is what “unity” looked like: Marcos absorbing the old yellow and pink networks that spent years calling his family thieves, then using their playbook of selective cases, COA theater, and international pressure once the alliance no longer served him. They are eating their own vomit—recycling the same anti-Duterte tactics they once deployed against each other, now aimed at anyone who threatens the 2028 narrative. Flood control ghosts, budget insertions, and a PhilHealth raid are documented. The timing of the highest-profile cases against the Dutertes is also documented. One is treated as a systemic failure of the current government. The other is sold as justice. The difference is who still needs to be weakened before the next election. #Marcos #YellowPink #FloodControlScandal #PhilHealth #BudgetInsertions #SelectiveJustice #EatYourOwnVomit

Following the interactive dialogue, I spoke with members of the press about my candidacy for UN Secretary-General and the leadership this moment requires: • Asked about the power of the office, I said: “The Secretary-General has no army and no vote,” but has the trust of the organisation and the power of mediation and good offices. “I plan to be a Secretary-General who engages frequently with the Security Council” to help resolve the world’s worst conflicts and humanitarian crises. • On Sudan, I said that it “will be the litmus test of the success of the incoming Secretary-General.” “It is a terrible humanitarian catastrophe on the ground,” and “it urgently needs to move to a cessation of hostilities and a political process”, reflecting the democratic aspirations of the Sudanese people. • On the Middle East and Gaza, I stressed the need for “doubling down on diplomacy and mediation efforts, upholding international law and the Charter.” “I promise to be a prime mover in mediation efforts and to be a political risk-taker.” •In relation to self-determination, I said I would support “all efforts of all peoples, as the Charter outlines, to live in freedom and dignity.” • Asked what my Security Council experience brings to my candidacy, I pointed to “my experience of over a decade here in the United Nations, including two years on the Security Council” and “being able to bridge those divides to achieve consensus on key files.” • On potentially becoming the first woman Secretary-General, I said: “I am not running to be Secretary-General because I am a woman, but I do believe that the next Secretary-General should be a woman. It is high time.” • And asked which former Secretaries-General inspired me, I reflected on U Thant’s quiet diplomacy, the moral clarity of Boutros Boutros-Ghali and Kofi Annan, and Dag Hammarskjöld’s service to the organisation. “You need a Secretary-General with energy, with drive and with purpose for these challenging times.”

SIR PATRICK STEWART (1940-2026) Before everything else, Patrick was defined by being born and bred in Yorkshire, the proud county in the north of England which he loved to the end. You could hear it in his accented voice and in the stern honesty with which he told you what he thought and felt. Yorkshiremen have no truck with half-truths or avoidance of big issues. He wore his heart on his sleeve, which made him a man to rely on, to admire and in my case, love. We first met as ambitious young actors with the Royal Shakespeare Company half a century ago but we weren’t in the same productions. My first strong memory was a few years later, meeting him in the street in central London when he told me about an offer to take over a leading part in 'Star Trek'. “But Patrick think of your stage career in the UK. Do you really want to risk—getting lost in Hollywood for years and years?”. Well, he took the risk and thank goodness for us all that he did for not just his devoted Trekkies but film and theatre audiences, who marvelled at his using international celebrity to star in a string of cinema successes ('X-Men' of course) and in great classical plays by Shakespeare, Ibsen, Arthur Miller, Peter Shaffer, Pinter and Beckett at Stratford-upon-Avon, in London’s West End and on Broadway. America was his adopted home, where he met his adored Sunny who has cared for him through sickness and health, through thick and thin. But he never forsook his origins: and the proudest achievement of the most respected and beloved actor of his generation on either side of the Atlantic, was his appointment as Chancellor of Huddersfield University in Yorkshire. His farewell performance in 'Avengers: Doomsday' is yet to be seen. Ian McKellen 29 October 2026 Photo: University of Huddersfield
