you guys start to sound exactly like white folks when you’re not top of someone’s own individual perspective. grow up and get on with it

why’s it only in toronto where it’s normal for multiple out of city promoters (in the states, europe) to come throw parties during caribana weekend? we have enough of our own collectives + a venue shortage. caribana weekend is not an opportunity to come extract

the bigger promoters like everyday people have always travelled seasonally so this isn’t even about them. they don’t come here during this time either. but like, it’s always the ones you’ve never heard of that have 1-2 dj friends in the city and see it as a cash grab

point here is less about who does or doesn’t do it and more so that local collectives should have all resources (audience, venue) to shine during big moments in their city. there’s already so much happening and then now the attention gets split further

i hosted my first open studio yesterday "Show Me About Your Mother" is a participatory installation that invites visitors to do one simple thing: take a piece of clay and, without overthinking it, show me what their mother feels like. thank you for sharing💕

Back in Lagos — tomorrow is the final shoot day for Isabel’s short film.. it’s an honor to be in my country working on a beautiful piece of art, directed by my sis. The story is phenomenal, I can’t wait for everyone to see this on screen. 🖤
