Before I had kids, I used to wonder what was wrong with people who said they didn’t want children. 😂
Then I became a mother.
I disappeared from social media for 12 straight years.
I love my children dearly, but nobody prepared me for how much motherhood would demand of me. My time, my freedom, my ambitions. I never imagined it would take this much.
Sometimes I wonder if, knowing everything I know now, I’d make the same decision again.
So when someone tells me they don’t want children, I say, “My dear, do you! More power to you!”
If you don’t want children, don’t have them. Society will pressure you to become a mother, but society will not live your life or raise those children for you.
Funny as it may sound it’s cuetics and I loved it more after interning in a factory

This is one of those situations which will not fall into a categorical IS/IS NOT …
It can be a death sentence for some , it can feel like a death sentence and it can go well for some ..
Everyone’s experiences are valid and should not be dismissed..
And this is regardless of religious inclination or if based solely on medicine or not ..
We’ve ethical SM responsibilities as healthcare professionals to address misinformation or highlight there are other possibilities and viewpoints and not a blanket rule that applies to everyone such as relating to the subject matter in view of the impact that directly translates to lived experiences and outcomes ...
That’s my main point..

Young women, please consider a career in medicine. We need more of you.
We need women who will listen when other women say something is wrong. Women who understand that behind every maternal mortality statistic is a family whose life has changed forever.
And above all, we need doctors who never lose their empathy.
Thanks to our allies. We see you.

The whole pregnancy thing on the timeline, I didn’t want to give it my attention, but I’ll say this. Pregnancy is not easy. The fact that women get pregnant, give birth and are happy they did doesn’t make it a walk in the park.
If you’ve ever been pregnant, it’s insensitive to water down another woman’s experience. No two pregnancies are the same, and even a healthy pregnancy throughout the nine months can have a glitch towards the end.
Yes, children are beautiful and miraculous, and that’s why women are happy to have them. But that doesn’t mean the journey is easy. Women are not looking for praise for giving birth; they just want to share their experiences without being shut down.
Being a doctor with practical biological knowledge doesn’t mean you’ve experienced pregnancy firsthand.

Gynecologist my ass
Look at the way you’re being dismissive about it s if you’ve carried several pregnancies to arrive at this conclusion. You’re not even empathetic towards women whom have lost their lives.
That “death sentence” isn’t supposed to be translated in its literal form just so you know
so we can close this discussion forever... take this from one of the best person on the TL to educate you on this subject matter.
PREGNANCY IS NOT A DEATH SENTENCE.
now, start preaching this gospel... so to out can sound like an elite when you talk with an international community.
It's OK to not like someone... but not on this X would we allow people pander fear.
Again, PREGNANCY IS NOT A DEATH SENTENCE.

No man who has stayed with his wife during labor ever talks down on pregnancy and its toll on women.
It’s always those that would rather go watch football or go to beer parlors while their wives scream and cry in the labor room that always have the vilest things to say.
If you are a man enough, follow your wife inside and see how e dey be.

I mind my business on this app and only post about my business but nothing triggers me like undermining pregnancy, Nothing!
Especially not coming from a man
2 years later and I’m still so traumatized I don’t want another child and you want to tell me how to feel
Remember, there is nothing new on this app.
Whenever there is an issue of medical misconduct, the bad actors will rear their ugly heads as usual.
We’ve been calling out the same set of bad actors for years now.

Kind of disappointing that Drs were arguing against the personal experiences of some women. 😔

A lot of doctors lack empathy deep down, no offense and no apologies. Those doctors that always show lack of empathy and emotional intelligence here on X are the exact same way in person. Terrible on the TL and terrible to patients.
They find a way to downplay your pain or experience and they show little or no concern. I get that the country barely pays health workers well but why take it out on the patients?? I don’t even want to talk about those male doctors that downplay pregnancy and period cramps and still find a way to make fun of you or make it look like you are overreacting, very unkind people.
I was sick when I was little and I went to the hospital, Asokoro general hospital to be precise. This was around 2017 btw. The drugs the doctor gave me didn’t help and I was developing rashes and so many allergic reactions from using them so I went back to the hospital. This doctor told me she was tired of seeing my face and she was sure I was only pretending to be sick meanwhile that was my second time there. I went to another hospital sha and I got better.
If it was now, I’d make sure I see their chief medical director and I will make a scene for the disrespect and I will drag the doctor online and make a video too.

If you like, move to saner climes and keep calling your female colleagues “dear” or, as a male patient, call your female doctors “dear” instead of addressing them by their title or name. You’ll see what you’re looking for.
Because tell me: would you address your male colleagues or male doctors as “dear”? Extend the same professional courtesy to women !!!
Knowing the physiology of pregnancy does not mean you understand every woman’s experience of it tbh. It is incredibly complex and unpredictable.
We should stop dismissing women’s accounts of their own bodies simply because their experiences do not align with what we know/expect.
