Fun fact when I did YCW19 I gained 17 pounds from eating gummy bears. During W25 I gained 2 kg of muscle at the same weight due to Oliver’s and the gym (@pennepastaa got healthier too)
Computers for agents. Steaks for the batch. 🥩
Every founder in YC S26 has a 21-day dry aged rib-eye waiting at Olivier's Butchery in Dogpatch, a short walk from YC.
No strings, no account needed, just show up with your ID and tell them your startup's name. They'll know what to do. Open weekends too. One per co-founder.
The last stretch before demo day is brutal. Eat well, ship well. 🚀

A1Zap from @a1baseapi is the social network layer for AI apps. Starting with campuses, build apps and make interactive social content that spread through a unified social graph.
Congrats on the launch, @pashpops & @pennepastaa!

It turns out that to get AI into the hands of everyone, you have to rebuild the social network *for humans* in the age of AI.
When Facebook first came out, I was still in high school. On it, an entire school could organise, chat, meet, and actually engage with each other in a shared space. That feeling has been missing for a while now.
What replaces it is not another content feed, but a network of things people build and share with each other. A world of social builders, where apps, agents, and tools move through friendships in the same way posts once did.
Distribution also changes. It is not something you figure out after you build. It is there from the beginning. What you make is immediately usable by the people around you, and it spreads through group chats, classes, and campuses in a much more natural way.
To make this work, you have to go deeper into the infrastructure than most products do. Web, mobile, messaging, email, identity all need to come together so these things can actually live and move between people.
We’re moving from a world where people post, to a world where people build.

We actually have an MCP for our users but we’re unfortunately at capacity for SMS atm!

Most founders are overthinking AI. There's tremendous alpha in just using it for seemingly mundane stuff!
@navvye from Bindwell built an agent to scrape thousands of scientific reports - stuff that used to take teams months.
Data quality matters way more than fancy architectures. Best model + bad data = garbage results.
Full convo in the video.

We just built A1Mail - email for AI agents.
Turns out the problem wasn't making AI smarter, it was making them communicate like humans.
Your executive assistant AI can now have its own inbox and respond like a team member. The early use cases from developers are pretty wild.
Sometimes the most transformative tech solves the most mundane problems everyone assumes someone else will handle.

When we started @a1baseapi (@ycombinator W25), we knew AI was quickly changing the way we do things.
Chatting with @andrewyan200 from @getathenahq about AI search highlighted how fast: “the internet is moving from "humans searching for information to make human decisions" to "AI searching for information to help humans make decisions."
While we're busy optimizing for Google and social media, AI systems are increasingly becoming the middlemen between information sources and the humans making decisions. Soon, most internet traffic will be AI, not human. That means products must be visible to AI, not just people.
A key takeaway was that AI search is probabilistic, not fixed. Ask ChatGPT or Gemini the same question 10 times, you’ll get 10 different answers citing varied sources. Tracking brand presence across these systems is way trickier than old-school SEO.
At A1Base, we're adapting to this reality by approaching our content creation with both human and AI discovery in mind. But we know we're still at the very beginning of understanding this shift.

At @a1baseapi, we’ve learned what most founders miss about AI agents: they don’t replace your team. They fix gaps.
The best companies don’t automate everything. They target specific problems—meeting summaries, dashboard monitoring, support ticket routing. Tasks that waste your team’s time.
The key is integration.
If your AI is stuck in a separate tool, your team won’t use it. It works when it’s seamless—sending a Slack message to a specialist when a complex ticket arrives or texting a field tech without requiring a separate login.
We see this in every industry: automate high-volume, simple tasks and keep human communication easy for everything else.
That’s why we built A1Base. We create the communication layer that makes AI agents useful, not abandoned.
Smart companies treat AI agents like team members, giving them digital identities that work across platforms, hold context, and build trust.

If you're building an AI Agent I want to introduce you to the founders of A1Base @a1baseapi (@YCombinator W25) (@Pashpops & @pennepastaa)
AI products can now talk to their users on WhatsApp, SMS, Slack, Teams and more because of them.
They're also helping developers and startups build their first AI personified agents within a week.
Let me know if you are interested in speaking with the founders to learn more!
(I'm a lucky small investor in them)
