#GBP - Small mercies! UK CPI falls to 10.1% in Jan from Dec's 10.5%. Core 5.6% vs 6.3% and RPIX a mere 12.6% - So as long as you didn't spend money on energy, food, booze or ciggies (core)/your mortgage (RPIX), you were ahead!

If yesterday's central bank-fest and monster bond rally wasn't enough excitement for you, Big Tech shares are under pressure in Frankfurt (down 4-5% after earnings) and there's non-farm payrolls - e185K vs 223K prior. 🥳

Good morning! The day that we've all been waiting for is HERE! Never mind who voted for what or what the rate outlook is. I'll be glad not to read/write/edit "Markets do nothing ahead of ECB/BOE" for another few weeks 😁 #journolife

For anyone keeping a close eye on the ECB this week, this cheat sheet is great!
🇪🇺 ECB Rates and FX cheat sheet: Wake up, this isn’t the Fed! A 50bp hike by the European Central Bank, and a repeat of its December guidance, are set in stone but a push back against subsequent cut expectations will move 5Y euro rates higher think.ing.com/articles/ecb-c…

Volatility of Italy's spread fell sharply after the June ECB emergency meeting and stayed low even after Draghi's gov't fell. As @HannoLustig says, this doesn't mean Italian debt got less risky. Risk is just being warehoused on the ECB balance sheet at the expense of others...

#Bitcoin - JPMorgan says one way of thinking about the downside is the BTC production cost. "At the moment, this production cost stands at $15k but it is likely to revisit the $13k low seen over the summer months implying a decline of around 25% from here." #BTC

💵 #DXY - After all my angst over hunting down "Powell's favourite curve" before it inverted, y'day's FOMC/press conference prevented that. It's widened 20bps in the last 24 hours (10-min chart 3M/3Mx18 IRS). Now I need a new derivative to obsess over. Any tips? #nerdalert

💶 #EURUSD - bit geeky but it's a fraction away from the bottom of the cloud on the daily chart ($1.00049). It's had about 4 goes in as many months at piercing it - but to no avail, logically. 🤓

We think UK inflation is now only fractionally away from the peak. But inflation could be 2-3pp higher for much of next year depending on how the government's energy price guarantee is structured, says @SmithEconomics think.ing.com/snaps/uk-infla…
